According to Automotive News, as many as 13,500 cars, trucks and SUVs
that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina and had salvage titles have been
shipped to other states where the titles have been “cleaned.”

Experian Automotive reports that up to 30,000 storm-damaged
vehicles were sent to other states and almost half were re-titled in
states that do not have “salvage vehicle” title designations for
out-of-state vehicles.

The states include Arizona, Arkansas, California, Illinois,
Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New
Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, and Vermont.
