Explorers, Mountaineers Checked

Approximately 740,000 Ford Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers will
be checked by dealers to make sure that their automatic transmissions
are performing properly. According to Ford, some 2004 Explorers and
Mountaineers are noisy when shifted from Park to Reverse because some
were filled with the wrong transmission fluid.
Ford will offer free repairs to the vehicles, most of which still
are under warranty. Owners who don’t receive notification should contact
their dealers.
