Ford Stops Using Continental in Recall

Ford Motor Company said it will stop using a Continental AG tire as a replacement for
Firestone tires it is replacing, until federal regulators complete a defect investigation.
Ford issued a statement that the 16-inch Ameri*550 AS tire would be removed from Ford’s
approved tire-replacement list, pending the outcome of a defect investigation by the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). To date, Ford supplied about 4,300
Ameri*550 tires, while replacing more than 3 million Firestone tires. Ford will continue to
use the tire as standard equipment on the F-Series pickup
