Mercedes Brings in the "Other" SUV

After being sold for many years in Europe, Mercedes-Benz is finally bringing its rugged
Galaendewagen sport-utility vehicle into the United States, but it won’t be cheap. The U.S.
version, which will be called G500, is equipped with a 300-horsepower 5-liter V-8 and will
retail for about $73,200, including shipping. Look for the G500 SUVs in dealer showrooms
later this year, probably as 2002 models. Less than 2,000 of these will likely be imported,
so get in line now.
