Both GMC and Chevy are believed to be readying replacements for the S-series Blazers for
2002. These replacement models will be called GMC Envoy and Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The rear
doors will be longer to provide access to a third row of seats. Long-wheelbase iterations
may be introduced in 2003 powered by Gen III V-8s of around 5.3 liters. Regular models will
get the new 4.2-liter inline six that replaces the venerable 4.3-liter V-6.
