Nissan has announced the engine specs for its 2001 Pathfinder sport-utility vehicle — and
it is good news for trailerists. The 2001 model will have a new 3.5-liter, DOHC V-6 with 24
valves, yet weighs 35 pounds less than last year’s version. It’s rated 250 hp at 6,000 rpm
with a five-speed gearbox, or 240 hp at the same rpm with an automatic. Claimed torque is
greater with the automatic: 265 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm, vs. 240 lb-ft for the stick shift.
