The overall response from participants at the First Annual Good Sam VIP RV Safety Rally,
held in Palm Springs, California, in late January, was extremely positive. GMAC Insurance,
in partnership with General Motors and Affinity Group Inc., introduced an enhanced version
of the original Defensive Driving Course. This new course consisted of four key components:
RV driving exercises utilizing Class A motorhomes, fifth-wheels and travel trailers; auto
driving skills enhancement; RV simulator; and classroom instruction. Response to the event
was very strong, as the available spots for the January 28-29 rally were sold out by the
end of last December. Dry camping was provided at the event and food was included in the
cost of the course. A second annual Good Sam VIP RV Safety Rally is being planned for early
2003, most likely again in Palm Springs. To be added to the waiting list, call (800)
765-1912, extension 166.
