Toyota has announced that its 2010 Tundra full-size pickup truck will offer a new 4.6L V-8
engine. The 4.6L engine is rated 310 hp and 327 lb.-ft. of torque and will be available on
all Tundra models with a six-speed automatic transmission. It will replace the 4.7L V-8
used in the 2009 Tundra, which had 276 hp and 313 lb.-ft. of torque. Toyota also adds two
new option packages. The Platinum Package is available on Tundra CrewMax Limited models
with the 5.7L V-8 and Flex Fuel powertrains. It includes a power-memory driver’s seat,
exterior power mirrors, power tilt-and-slide moonroof, navigation and ventilated seats with
a leather seating surface. The Work Truck package reduces the price and is targeted at
buyers looking for “a tough, no-frills truck with exceptional cargo and towing capacity.”
This package is available on Tundra 4×2 and 4×4 Regular and Double Cab models and with all
three available engines. For 2010 exterior changes include a redesigned front grille and
taillamps. Newly added standard features for the Tundra include a redesigned seven-pin
towing hitch connector mounted above the hitch to prevent damage during high
departure-angle driving.
