Play It Cool

When the RV’s fridge is packed or the party moves elsewhere, the CoolFreeze CFX series takes a quantum leap beyond traditional coolers. Operating on 120-volt AC or 12-volt DC power, Dometic’s line of compact, portable “cooling boxes” features high-performance compressors and extra-thick insulation to keep food and drinks chilled or frozen — one model even has separate zones for simultaneous cooling and freezing. The heavy-duty coolers come with reinforced corners and stainless-steel hinges, and stow neatly in truck beds and tow vehicles for tailgate parties and other activities away from the campsite. Integrated LED readouts and an optional wireless-display accessory (bottom-left photo) keep tabs on internal temperatures and the connected power source. Some of the latest models are Wi-Fi-enabled, allowing users to monitor and set compartment temperatures with a smartphone or tablet.
