RE: U bolts hitting frame? With pictures.....

Had same thing happen on my 09 23LFS. Just rear axle on driver side made contact. Mine actually cut thru my brake wires, so lost one axle worth of breaking. When I found broken wires I noticed where U-bolt hit frame.

RE: Get a propane tank gauge or not?

Or should I just set the tank switching valve to manual so I know when a tank runs out - then I would just switch over and fill the empty tank?
Thoughts & Suggestions?
Experience says when that one tank runs out it will be on a real cold night at 2am. I leave both tank valves open and just watch the red/green indicator to know when I have empty tank.

RE: Mobil 1 vs. the Walmart "knock off"

Well that just blows my theory for using synthetic out of the water. I thought I was doing my small part in lowering our nations reliance on "oil". Now I find out I'm still using "oil", highly refined "oil". To me synthetic means man made, not man altered. I agree with the false advertising.
I don't totally buy into that "you get what you pay for" philosophy, so I myself will be switching to WM oil, for all my toys and lawn equipment. I might actually switch from Rotella to WM in truck to.

RE: Poor Man's "Stay Extender"

I'm with ya ralphnjoann. I have basically the same kind of set up, but I use this and this instead of the steak saver to "adapt" the tank to the BBQ, Buddy Heater, or other appliance. I think I like the steak saver better, much smaller, and cheaper!

RE: RV Quality Expectations

3 things that have really stuck out as bad quaility to me on my trailer - I realize, not a class C but quality control issues none the less
1. The piece of wood that the rear of my drawer slides is screwed to doesn't quite line up, so there is only one screw is holding my drawer slides up in the back. Would have been simple to move the support over so it was aligned properly and two screws used.
2. Related to the first in that - I would move the support piece of wood over myself, but all the wiring/plumbing under the cabinet looks like a can of worms. So I haven't had time to rearrange all the plumbing and wiring to move it over. Just waiting for drawer slides to fall off, forcing me to make time. I think a little more care could have been taken in routing the wiring and plumbing.
3. As mentioned earlier - a little cleanup. I have found numerous dropped(I hope) screws and cleaned up quite a bit of sawdust.

RE: Looking for a 4 bunk 26' TT

We used to have a 2005 Keyston Outback 26RS. It has slide out queen in rear and 4 bunks up front. We really liked trailer, just decided toy hauler was what we wanted so traded up. Might find used one around.

RE: eclipse attitude xl 18'

Love my attitude also. Had one potentially serious issue. Foound water in the underbelly plastic sheeting, took it in and they said it was bad caulk job around windwos and front hatches. All taken care of under warranty, problem has not returned. Other than that no issues at all.

RE: Toy Hauler - Help the Wife (That Would Be Me)

I agree, most of the toy hauler we looked at we were less than impressed with the interiors. We do however love our Attitude interior. They make 5th wheels also. I've been noticing that Forest River has a Stealth toy hauler now that looks real nice also.

Micro-wave ovens

Last week we were at a full hook-up RV place and were using the micro-wave to defrost something for dinner. It was working fine, dinner was defrosting, then after about 5 min the microwave got louder, and dinner quite defrosting. I then tried to just heat a cup of water, after 2 min still cold. This is our second trailer and the one time we tried to use micro in old trailer to pop some popcorn it did not work either. Is this common with RV type microwaves? Both of them were Dometic. Are they unreliable? Is there a replacemnt available that is more reliable?

RE: Boise to Spokane on 55 and 95

I'm pretty familiar with both 55 and 95 from Boise to New Meadows. I prefer the 95 route from Payette to New Meadows over the 55 route from Boise to New Meadows. Might not be as scenic, but less traveled and not as twisty turny. Still a few climbs and some twisty turny areas, but IMO a much better route. And if you go the 95 route you can stop at Pineridge, just north of Council and see Gus, a pet Deer! No kidding!

RE: CFD Ram

I don't think it is really that big of deal. When it first came out that they were going to call the trucks Ram instead of Dodge, there was an uproar from people saying great, there goes my Dodge truck, why they gotta change it? So now the Ram CEO tries to put everyone at ease and says don't worry, your new Ram truck is still a Dodge, relax. To me it's still the same ole truck no matter waht they call it. Well except FIAT maybe. I was hoping that the spin off of the truck division to Ram would mean FIAT would leave them alone and let them do what they have been doing for years - maybe it will still be that way, who knows.

2010 Dodge window sticker

I was researching the cost differences of the 2500 compared to 3500 and some things kinda caught my eye. Just some gee wiz info i guess.
For the 2500 the base price is 38,480 and for the cummins option it is 7,615. The 3500 base price is 46,430. Cummins is standard, so the 7,615 carge for the Cummins makes up all but 335 dollars of the base price difference. The 335 must be for those extra leaf packs in the 3500.
The part that really caught my eye is for the 6spd auto on the 3500 you pay 1,575 but on the 2500 you only pay 405. Maybe a question - Is the transmission different?
All in all the price difference for two very similarly equiped trucks is the 3500 runs 1,500 more. But 1,100 of that difference is the trasmission charge! Hmmmm is all I could think
After further comparison of stickers the price difference is only 1,000, but the 2500 came with TPMS, Auto-Dim Ext mirrors and a Dual note elec horn that the 3500 did not. Only differences I could find in the two stickers I compared.

RE: 2010 RAM 2500 CTD pics are here....

I to prefer the column shift. I have a family of six, so 3 in back 3 in front. If they put shifter in center consule that would make for a very uncomfortable for the middle passenger in the front!
I agree, I always want the possible middle front seat for true 6 people capicity. With 6 nephews and nieces plus our family we use the 6 seats every once in a while.
Huh? Double huh? Like the pictures posted by the OP, there is no room for a third person in the front because of the bucket seats. The center console is there whether you have a shifter there or not. It takes place of a center seat.
To each his own I guess. They did it right on the 1/2 ton. If you haven't driven an automatic with the shifter in the center console being able to up shift and down shift in manual gear selecting automatic mode, you are missing out. It is much easier/enjoyable and you arent fumbling with a little rocker switch on the column style. They should have gone one step furter and added shift paddles to the steering wheel. I know the trucks aren't sports cars, but if you haven't driven that style you are seriously missing out. Every thing is at your finger tips without having to move the hands on the wheel.
I realize what the pics show:), my point being Dodge should stay with the column shifter. Big difference from a building/design perspective. With the column shifter, changing the center console to a bench seat is only a minor interior change. I think it would be to expensive to engineer and build both styles, so if they start designing the truck with the shifter in the center console they would most likely do away with the bench option in front(not good for me). If they leave it on the column you can have bench seat or center console, whichever you prefer.

RE: 2010 RAM 2500 CTD pics are here....

I just wish they would have put the gear selector in the center console like they did on the 1/2 tons. Column gear selectors are old news. Drop the keyed ignitions already. Go with the push button starting. 99% of all new cars come with a key FOB to unlock doors and/or factory alarms.

RE: Bought a 2010 Ram 2500 CTD......

I'm jealous for one. I haven't looked at one up close, but IMO the new Ram HD is one of the best looking trucks to come out for some time. It makes we want a lifted 4x4 crewcab dually diesel, but the practical side of me wins out and I'll keep what I have. What I can't figure out is why the rocket surgeons in marketing have decided to drop the Dodge brand name from their trucks and just call it Ram.
My take on it is they split the truck division(the only money making portion of Chrysler) off into it's own entity. Could mean variety of things - make it easier to sell being one of the popular reasons.
IMO I like the split - I take it to mean FIAT realizes the truck division knows what they are doing(and make money) so they split them off and will leave them alone to do what they have been doing for years.

RE: How Did You Choose Your Trailer?

We weighed all the pros and cons of each trailer we looked at. We considered:
Weight of trailer
Length of trailer
Cargo Capacity
Interior Decor and quality
I researched brand reputation(mostly on this site)
Then we choose the one that fit the bill the best

RE: Am I obsessed about tires

I'm running the stock D rated tires now and was looking at moving up to E rated. It just so happens I punctured the sidewall of one of my current tires and asked the tire shop that I had replace puncured tire to look on inside of rim to see if it had a PSI rating, the tech told me rims are not stamped with a PSI rating. So if you don't see it with your own eyes, don't believe it. Next time I have a tire off the rim I will ask to look at rim myself.

RE: Should I buy the cheapest or the more costly tongue jack

Barker generally doesn't get returns. If you ever have a problem with a Barker product of any kind, you call them and they immediately make it right. Usually, all you need is a simple part and they have a history of shipping it out to you free of charge and sometimes overnight. Check out Barker Electric Tongue Jacks and you will likely join the rest of us very satisfied Barker owners.
So Barker does have refurbished jacks, they are just still with the original owner. I would have no problem buying a refurbished jack, yeah it broke, but it should now be fixed. You have just as much chance of a brand new one breaking as you do a refurbished one. But the refurbished one is a whole lot cheaper.
On here, it does seem that Barker takes top prize for most reccomend.
