RE: How much power do I need to offset the Refer Door Heater...

The plug is in the hole. It has never been out.
I am trying an experiment...
I turned on the Furnace and the Refer
Then I turned OFF the Main in the Converter. I thought this was for EVERYTHING, AC/DC...but No. The furnace and refer stayed on.
If the Converter is drawing Elec this should stop it, NO???
Going to try it overnight.

RE: How much power do I need to offset the Refer Door Heater...

The Breakaway...for the Electric Brakes, right. How is it plugged or un plugged, looks hardwired to me. Mine has a skinny wire cable with a loop on one end and a white plastic plug on the other. Plugs into a small square mount with a female to accept the plug. Has an o ring on it to seal out the weather.
Same deal as mine. The plastic plug end has the steel cable that I get my wife to hold onto as we drive down the road.
Are you saying that the Breakaway is consuming power because the plastic end is plugged in that hole? The opposite. The idea is when towing : the hitch, safety cables, power umbilical and the breakaway are attached. Should something come loose, the cable snatches the plug out of the receptacle, applying the brake. The electric unit applying the brake draws current.
"The electric unit applying the brake draws current."
Always? Clearly I am not an Engineer, I figured it would draw current when it needed to apply the brakes.
How do you turn it off?

I thought I had a Group 34. It is an Exide XHP31D, assuming that is Group 31.

RE: How much power do I need to offset the Refer Door Heater...

I am not Electric/Electronic minded? If that is the least, where is the power going. In my previous machine I could do three nights with furnace/fan on one good battery. This TT is 06 kind of new. One good group 34. Something seems to be a vampire.

How much power do I need to offset the Refer Door Heater...

... and is Solar an option?
We like to boon-dock in cooler months. The refer door has a heater to keep out the moisture and it drains the battery bad. There is also what I believe to be a fan in the converter/inverter area that comes on occasionally.
I have a genny but prefer not too run it for long periods.
I can not turn off the Refeer Door Heater as some models can.
Is solar an option? How do I determine how much solar panels I need?

RE: Weber Q-100 or Weber Baby-Q??

Will this Q stay lit in a breeze? I have the cheaper version that the top lifts off and the wire legs fold around the top. Slightest breeze and it is out...
Cant see the flame either so it is hard to know it is cooking.
The Q looks like you could see the flame easier.
And, if you go to the 200 model you get a thermostat so you know you're cooking.
Thx

Why Ruber Roof?

We have an '06 Dutchmen 28. A great RV in all respects. However, I have replaced the rubber roof twice in as many years due to punctures.
Once we were in a micro burst and before we could get the awning down it was ripped off and penetrated the rubber when it came down.
Recently while parked under a tree (common to park RVs under trees) a dead branch punctured the roof.
Although the Rubber Roof looks nice and seems to be better for walking on than sheet steel or whatever the other stuff was...it seems like it is too easy to damage.
And occasionally you'll see some happy camper sailing down the road with a balloon on top his rig, thanks again to the Rubber Roof.
So, Why Rubber???
Thx

RE: Analog to Digital Transition FAQ

We were in Chattanooga this past week. Plenty of DTV. We have a Digital TV. Tuned to DTV Channel. It said Low Signal Strength and produced a crisp black screen. I keep hearing everyone say that the antenna is not important...but, maybe there is an amplifier or distribution system that is not passing the signal???there is a little green light where we plug the coax in the wall with an on off switch...no signal either way.
Rig is 06 Dutchman so it ought to be up to spec???
