RE: Gatlinburg.Tenn.

I've stayed at Creekside and River Plantation. I like River Plantation the best. Stayed their the last two years and they have river sites. In Gatlinburg I've only stayed at the Yogi Bear campground. Very nice and I was literally ten feet from the stream. If you have kids this is a place to think about.

RE: Owners, past and present, of v10 Dodge Rams please respond.

I found the magazine. :) They dyno tested all 3, interestingly, in the same issue, they dyno tested a 5.9L gas in a Dodge 1500, and a Ford 5.4L in an F150 in a separate comparison. 5.9L gas (2002 Dodge 1500) 192hp/260tq 5.4L gas (2002 Ford F150) 190/255tq GM 8.1L gas (2002 3500 DRW) 245hp/368tq Dodge V10 gas (2002 3500 DRW) 230hp/315tq Ford V10 gas (2002 F350 DRW) 218hp/277tq The Ford V10 was the 2V version (2 valve heads). Some comments from the "performance" section of the comparison test: - There's no substitute for cubic inches, and the Chevys 8.1L simply outpowered the others - Further advantage was generated by the extra gear in the Allison automatic, and not as big a split between 2 and 3 and 4th and a lower first gear ratio - Up to 50mph, the Dodge put gobs of torque down best - The Ford V10 revs 500 - 1000 RPM past the others, but the Dodge's low end torque is unbeatable - The Dodge was usually the last to downshift; we expect it would do well loping along in overdrive with a cabover camper up top - ...the Dodge dragged the boat up a long grade, flat on the floor in second gear, A/C on, for about 10 minutes, and the water temp never budged (it did hit 210* on the dyno) Like I said, I can scan it and email it to you if you want. Please IM me and I'll give you my email address. I would like a scanned copy if you don't mind.

RE: Wireless thermometer

I place ours on one of the tires. Just don't forget to remove it when you leave. I learned the hard way.

RE: Owners, past and present, of v10 Dodge Rams please respond.

I currently have an 03, the last year they were produced. The only problems I've had in the 3 years of ownership was the rear brakes grabbing (replaced calipers), an oxygen sensor, and a couple of rubber gromments in the valve covers (cracked). The truck has never overheated or burns any oil. Mileage is usually 9-10 around town and as high as 13 on the highway. While pulling I average arond 8-8.5. Its a Laramie so its pretty much decked out. For what I pull it does a great job.

RE: Jayco Super lite fiver's

Our Jayco has been great. Two problems so far, the fireplace and micowave. The microwave was replaced under warranty and I need to get the fireplace replaced. Other than that I can't complain.

RE: Big tow capacity on the cheap

Don't forget about the Dodge V10's. Mine has been very dependable and can be gotten at a good price if you look hard enough. You've got a bit of a rare breed there. 2003 was the last and only year that the Dodge v10 (cast iron truck version, not the viper version in the SRT 10) was available with the newer body style. I'd like to have one myself. Nice truck!! I get some strange looks sometimes. I saw somewhere on the internet that less than 800 03 v10's where produced. The truck has 78k miles on it and runs and pulls my trailer great.

RE: Problems with Fireplace

Thanks for the replys. I know it's not a Dimplex but if it needs replaced that is what I want. Other than the trim are they that hard to remove?

Problems with Fireplace

Our fireplace has been not working off and on for awhile now. Sometimes when you turn it on the coils get red hot and the unit kicks off. The fireplace needs replaced and since the camper is still under warranty I'm going to try to get this done in the next few months. When they are installed are they hard wired or do they plug in? The reason I'm asking is if they plug in I can remove it and take it to the dealer. If not then I'll have to take the 5ver to them.

RE: Chevy Engines/Transmissions Approach 100% Reliability

I own two GM cars and they have been great. A 2000 Cavalier with 242k miles and a 05 Cobalt with 57k miles. My wifes next car will probably be a Malibu. Other GM cars I've owned in the past have been a Camaro, two Grand Prixs', a blazer, and a Silverado 2500hd. All have been great.

RE: Outdoor Kitchens?

My wife loves them and the idea is starting to grow on me. I can see advantages and disadvantages. I talked to a dealer Saturday at the Cincinnati RV show and he said if you thought the idea was popular this year wait til next year. I didn't ask him what he meant but I guess will start seeing more models like this. The bottom line is it's your money, spend it any way you like.

RE: Aluminum vs. Fiberglass on new 5er

Had a aluminum TT for four years and would spend all summer trying to keep it clean. The 5ver is fiberglass and it is soooooo much easier.

RE: Need Specs. for 2006 Sun Valley Roadrunner M-530BH

I wish I could help you but the family and I did own a Road Runner 310bhss for four years and it was a great TT for the money. We never used the water tank and I believe I threw away my brochures on the Road Runner. From what I've heard the company is out of business so getting information may be hard to do. From my experience there are very few owners on here.

RE: River Plantation RV Park Sevierville TN

Stayed there manny times. Good location. River lots are the best. Highly recommend. I would agree, stayed there twice and the River sites seem to be the best.

RE: For Dodge/Cummins fans & owners

I loved the show Shadetree Mechanics. Like it matters but I thought Sam drove a Chevy DRW, but that may have been awhile back.

RE: Trailer Life???

I've gotten the magazine for 6 years now and even though it has gone down hill, it's better than nothing, so I'll be keeping it.

RE: How far to pull up 5th wheel before backing up?

ericosmith Try this. As you are backing, and first realize the trailer has gotten away from you - that is it is turning too sharply - turn your wheels the opposite way and pull forward just a couple of feet to make the correction. Then start back again. That way corrections are minor. Hope this helps. That's what I do.

RE: Nashville TN

Seven Points is by far the best campground around Nashville. I know it's only my opinion but next June will be our fourth year in a row staying there and I could'nt imagine staying anywhere else. Do not stay at seven points. They have no sewer, Most of the sites are level, Almost all of the sites are tooo big. There is absolutly total privacy between sites, the roads are paved and the lake sites are great. I enjoyed my stay there so don't go there as I intend to go back soon.:B and it is real close to Nashville. Larry Now that I think about it the place is a total dump. Please do not stay. Just ignore my previous post.
