RE: RV's turning into first home.

My daughter is out of work now. Can't find a job;Her unemployement check just barely covers the appt rent, which BTW is the cheapest you can find in this area without living in the Hood.I ask her to consider looking around for a used TT and pay for it with her small income tax refund. This would be 1/2 cheaper than her current rent.Is this wrong?I think its a very wise move until she can get back on her feet.Theres several quite C/G's around here and I've already did a history check of who's staying in the area,so it appears to be safe.

RE: Excavating Backyard for RV Sewer Drain

Poor mans sewer tank,Like Retired JSO said;:BAlthough it doesn't meet code we have used this method @ our TT @ the hunt club for many years with no problem.I would use a plastic barrel. The metal ones will rust over time.

RE: V front trailers

I'm missing something about a box type TT having wasted or unused space?:hOn a V-front TT wouldn't you have the gas bottles in the V?And if so then this would still be on the 3ft A part of the tounge, which is the same as a box type TT.I bet you if you measured the inside sq.feet of a V type TT and compared it to a box type TT the box would have more sq.ft.But as long as your happy with your TT it doesn't matter.:BMy first thought about the V front is it would cut the wind better, but seeing what someone else stated about a 45degree wind that makes alot of sense.

RE: RV's turning into first home.

Good discussion.Pros and Cons on both sides.I will know if I still have my current job that I've been @ for over 16yrs in 2 weeks. And yes I'll try and find another one instead of drawing unemployement, which I've never had to do in over 35 yrs of working. But whether we like it or not times are still tough everywhere in the USA.I hope I can keep my home and all the other stuff we have such as a TT and T/V.I do understand why folks are turning to TT,5TH Wheels,Motor homes, and etc.to live in.But for us our #1 concern will to keep the house first, and the other stuff will follow a close 2nd.

RE: Dodge Gearing

My TV has the 4;10 gears and other than the MPG's I'm happy with it.:)Towing a 9000# TT I get 11-13 and non-towing I get 15-16.Not much different in the MPG's but I didn't buy it to go too the grocery store.:B

Red Light Cameras

Heard on the news the other day that Charlotte,N.C.is looking @ reinstalling the red light cameras and speeding cameras. They took them out in 2007.One of the county commisioners has brought it back up and says the reason is for safety. There isn't any evidence whatsoever that this reduces accidents @ these intersections. As a matter of fact when they installed them years ago they put them up @ high traffic areas instead of high accident areas. The money from all the tickets is mandated by the state to go too the school system.Could it be another way to raise revenue instead of safety?I'm all for safety but in my opinion this isn't about safety.Any other cities out there with these, and do you think they work? ----------------------------- This was discussed at length in this thread so please pick up there if you wish after reading the comments.

RE: Stopped at a Super Wall-Mart today..stopped selling RV items

Your second statement Jim is a very valid point.Don't think I've ever walked in and walked out without buying something else.

RE: Who is rich and who is poor

Very good read.We were poor while growing up but didn't know it until later on in life.I'm truely blessed to have what I have now.We all should stop everyday and count our blessings.

RE: Best inexpensive leveling device

If you use the leveling blocks then you need to stair step them. This will leave you just enough to put a chock onto one of the plastic blocks,if you get it just right.Thats why I use boards appox 5ft to 6ft long. This give you a margin of arror..Depending on the length of your TT you may need to follow the advice that I posted before in this thread.I've seen alot of folks putting down wheel chocks and they don't do it properly, but I can say I've learned alot over the past several years from this forum, and its helped me.

RE: Simple Electrical Question

This is been going on for many years.Kinda like your toilet paper.Over the top or bottom? It doesn't matter. It all depends on which angle the cord is coming into.

RE: Any reason to not consider a 2006 5.9 CTD Dodge MC 3500?

Looks like a good deal too me.When I purchased ours about 3 yrs ago I paid 28k for it and it had 5k on it.It now has 36k and I love it.We tried to deal on a megacab 3500 in Ga But it didn't sit around.Sold before we could come to a deal.

RE: One Thing

Batteries, quarters, and kids DVD's.The batteries are expensive @ the camp stores, quarters are hard to come by when you need them @ the misc.machines, and the grandkids get a little upset @ night when all the DVD's are adult movies instead of batman, spiderman, and etc..

Alot of wally worlds are not selling alot of stuff anymore. From guns,ammo,R/V supplies, boating supplies, and etc.But the good thing is if your there when they get rid of these things the markdown is really great.Like stated its supply and demand.

RE: Happy Holiday Cherokee NC

Grammis,No offense but I didn't see anyone in the above threads bad mouthing the cherokees. Some spectiulation was made as too maybe why they have closed this C/G.I have been going to the cherokee reservation for 40 plus years to visit and camp,And it has really changed. In my opinion they have let the taste of the mighty dollar change the area, and are getting away from there heritige. And BTW I do have cherokee blood in me,and my granddaughter is 50% cherokee.:)

RE: Driving through Atlanta GA

We were there last weekend down near the racetrack and everytime I drive threw there I don't like it.All larger cities are like this.I guess thats why I don't like the city life.

RE: Happy Holiday Cherokee NC

We have been going there every year for the past 8 yrs and it is the best in that area if you ask me.The land down near the pool does belong to the owner who lives in the C/G and he is Cherokee. It wouldn't surprise me if they did have other plans such as putting up condos or another motel, seeing as they have alchol in the casino now and the location is really close to this.
