RE: Rafting trips in the Smokies

I to would vote on the Nattahalla river.Theres a outfitter about 2 miles past NOC on the left and there price is about 1/2 the cost of NOC.I've used both and if I can save money and get the same experience then I go the cheaper route. We were up there last week for 9 days and they had a thundershower 7 out of the 9 days in the evening. It was hot during the days but the humidity was nowhere near whar it is when we got back home.Sure wish I was still there!Have fun!

RE: Maxxis Tires

If you have a 4x4 and you use it alot off road or in alot of mud and etc.then maxxis would be a great choice.I have several hunting buddies that have maxxis tires on there hunting truck and they swear by them.I have super swamper TSL's on my hunt truck, but I sure wouldn't put them on my T/V.

RE: Tires tires tires !!

I too agree with the Maxxis m8008 radial tire.Depending on you weight of your TT you might want to step up 1 size to a D.Thats what I just did.J.M.O.

RE: Do you remember when?.........

Sleeping outside under the stars, with nothing more than a blanket..Helping pick the garden, string beans, shuck the corn, canning the garden stuff, and then going down to the pasture where the cows were and taking a refreshing dip in the cow pond, and sometimes with the cows!

Walking to town with friends that was 2 miles away to check the mail.. Collecting drink bottles to sell back so we could then spend the money on candy,gifts,etc..

RE: Are my Marathon tires bad??

One of my old carlile tires looked just like that when we were coming back from a trip.Once I got it back @ the house I looked @ it closely.Looking stright on @ the tread you could see the tire tread going kinda @ a angle, and the tire appeared to have a high spot on the tread.A broken belt or a tread seperation. So I changed all 4.

RE: How to level a dual axle TT.

To tell ya the truth I check from side to side and then adjust with only 1 board on the low side.I carry a 2x8x7 and a 5/quarterx6x7 board and either use one or both boards under both tires on one side. This has always worked for me.

RE: We All Were Newbies At One Time

I like to think that maybe somewhere along the way I can share some of my vast knowledge to a newbie.:BAfter all it took 50yrs to get where I'm @ now.I used to be 21 and knew it all.I'm 50 now and need to be reminded from time to time just how smart I am!So I guess thats why I still ask some dumb questions as some would refer too.;)

RE: New tires for the TT....

True,Maxxis tires are made overseas. But so are goodyear marathons.Theres another thread running on towing?Where goodyear has comfirmed that they have sent these tires back to china too be made.IMO its not where their made but How they are made.We need to have more quality control and insist that they follow the same guidelines as the american made tires. And if not then they shouldn't be allowed to be brought into the USA.

RE: New tires for the TT....

Just got tires for my TT last week.I too did alot of research and desided to go with Maxxis. So far I could only find 1 complaint about them.Maxxis does make a really good off road tire for ATV'S,UTV'S,and serious 4x4 trucks.I figured if they do this without many complaints then they must know about sidewall flexing and heat. Our local tire shop quoted me $420 for 4 tires mounted, balanced, and installed, for ST/205/75/15D tires.BTW the local shop was Buffalo tire center in Pineville,nc or Usa tires in fort mill,sc.Same price.

RE: Carved Wood Name Signs

I made a shepards hook out of EMT and drive a 3/4 piece of Emt into the ground and slide the 1/2 shepards hook into this. But you can buy a shepards hook @ Wally World for about $12 or so in the garden dept. They also sell a plant hanger that looks like a realastate sign too for the same price. Both work really well.Sorry,I don't have a pic of mine.

RE: Charcoal, and how to dispose

It was the previous campers responsability to do what Terryallen said.I admit that I too have came in before check in,but never before checkout time.I have also pulled into sites after checkin and found smoldering fires, breakers missing, power pole knocked over, trash on ground, and etc.So why have a later checkin time if the person on duty @ the c/g isn't doing their job?If all of the folks would use common sense the world would be better off.I have gotten on my own kin folks when they throw plastic in the fire ring or cigarette butts in the fire or on the ground and I police my campsite always before I leave it.Some folks just don't get it and never will. These types should be banned from c/g's.

RE: Lifes changes

The place she works will only let you go too one doctor for the physical. If pills were working then thats OK.They will renew them.I don't know why it really matters if its pills or insulin, but thats the law in S.C.Shes hoping that they will do a 6mo layoff and maybe with diet, excerise she might be able to get off the insulin. But only time will tell. Some folks reguardless if they diet and excerise will still have to take insulin. This only pertains to CDL lisc.

Lifes changes

Life throws us alot of changes doesn't it?My D/W just found out that she want be able to keep her job.She had to go renew her CDL lisc and found out that if your on insulin you can't get or renew your CDL.Shes been taking pills to try and control the dibetes but it wasn't working so the doc put her on insulin.Life will go on but it now throws a curve ball in our way of life. The way the enconomy is right now its going to be really hard for her to find another job that was paying what she was making.Looks like I'll have 2 maybe take a second job for awhile which is going to cut into our camping. But the good side is she will be available anytime now when we deside to go,and noone said life would be easy. Were within 6 yrs getting the house paid for,and 2 yrs on the T/V,So I guess we will have to tighten the belts a little and hope it all will work out.Guess that country song Sounds Like Life to Me is us!LOL
