I have a 25"x19" front TV cabinet that I wanted to fit a 32" HDTV into that would not stick out 4" becoming a "head banger" After measuring every 32" TV on the market the LG model 32LG30 fit the opening perfectly. The LG has a 24"x18" molded TV cabinet that fit inside my MH cabinet perfectly, resting on the MH cabinet floor taking all of the weight off of the mounting bracket.

My neighbor who is a retired Master Carpenter/Cabinet Maker was a tremendous help in this project. Without his help, I could not have completed this project as nice as it came out. THANK YOU, Al!

We used a 60 lb. rated swing arm bracket, screwed an additional piece of 3/4" plywood to the existing 3/4" cabinet wall then used 1 1/2" lag bolt to secure the arm. My cabinet has a 10 degree slant keeping the TV from sticking out into the entry way. The TV mount had to be compensated for the 10 degrees or the TV was out of balance on the swing arm mount.

The LG as a slightly curved bottom where only the center 4" rested on the cabinet floor. Two pieces of 1 X 2 were cut in a radius, one in each corner so the TV would sit flush across the bottom then brad nailed and glued to the cabinet floor. This was then covered with 1 1/4 in. foam weatherstrip tape (Lowe's) so there will be no squeaks while traveling.

For the mounting clamps. I copied an idea from "TVformyRV' except I did not want to use an ugly block of wood for a travel clamp. 1/4-20 Tee Nuts were used for the clamp attaching point.

For the Travel Clamps, We used 1/4-20 threaded stock, cut to size, 1/4-20 threaded knobs, 1/2 X 3 in. steel stock, 2 washers and a 1/4-20 nut. (Ace Hardware) We covered the 1/2 in steel with a piece of foam insulation tape where it will touch the TV. Once everything was adjusted to fit the TV, the knobs were sealed with lock tight, as was the nut to the shaft. The steel stock will swivel between the washers and everything stays in place never needing adjusting again.

The top Tee nut was mounted from the inside of the cabinet so it will pull tight when in use and not pull out. We used Gorilla Glue to secure the Tee nuts. The bottom Tee Nut was reset flush with the cabinet face, glued then drilled and screwed with 3 small screws, (not shown in photo) before the oak cabinet trim was installed.

Travel clamps in place both upper and lower. These clamps only take seconds to remove and really hold the TV in place for travel. I had no cabinet backing to use Velcro or any other large fastening method.

Where the TV will touch the cabinet trim, weatherstrip tape was used to to make a good flush fit for traveling. Notice how the back of LG TV is shaped to fit inside of the MH cabinet.

Side view of the finished project. Very slim and a nice tight fit.

TV with Travel Clamps in place

Once parked the Travel Clamps are removed, in seconds and nothing is showing except a small 1/4 inch hole in the wood trim that is under and above the TV almost out of sight.

We did have to move the overhead cabinet doors over 1/2 in. each and we did have to add a 1/2 strip of oak to fill the gap. It turned out perfect and cannot even be seen.

The LG is a perfect fit for smaller cabinets and I cannot believe what a great picture that set had right out of the box with no adjustments.

It really makes you feel good when you plan a project and it comes out just as you planned it. Looks good.

Thank you for the compliments. I just hope this will help others with mounting a larger HDTV into a smaller cabinet and securing it for travel. I searched this forum from top to bottom, and THANK everybody for their input, to come up with these ideas. I hope it works for others.

I can't believe how many cool ways we find to put a new TV in our units. Great job.

I'm in the process of installing a 32" set. I searched everywhere for the narrowest 32" set, so it wouldn't interfere with the opening of doors on the cabinets that are on each side of the TV. The best I could come up with was 30.6" wide. The measurements you gave of your set would be for a 26" set.
