I am happy for you. I have a gulfstream and I sure wish I could find a reason to love it as you seem to. Perhaps my luck will change if I ever get all the bugs out.

Ray, I'm looking for unbiased experiences from Gulfstream owners, good and bad, but your input seems almost TOO gung ho. RV ownership seems to be very personal, like religion and politics, but IMHO, dropping the hyperbole and insults will give you tons more credibility.

What bugs specifically are you experiencing? I'm trying to talk myself into a Constellation, but a lot of people are trying to talk me out of it. I'd really like the space and the features, but I'd give them all up for a trouble-free (as trouble free as possible) rig.

Want my advise? Neither one. Too many other nice coaches out there. I would rather have an older top of the line coach than either on of these. I had a Revolution. Fleetwood built in American Coach factory. Didn't help it any. Original name was to be American Revolution.  FW decided to play games and leave off the American so they could market it as top FW. Keep looking and you will find a super buy in a really good coach. Don't just look at the glitz. Look deeper and get opinions.

For David, 1. elect step would not function. (three months to get it resolved) but it is fixed now. 2.Kept getting a fuse blown fron a certain receptical. 3.Drivers chair tore the wiring out when I turned the chair around. That was June. Still waiting to get paid for that one.4. Keyless entry still does not work. I noticed it in January of 09. 5. Facuet in the bathroom leaked and could not be fixed. Had to buy a new one ( January) and still waiting to be paid. 6. The floor in the shower cracked and several little holes appeared in it. Got it fixed at the dealers. 7. Back-up camera failed on three different ocaasions. Got it replaced and it now works.
that seems to be it for now. I sure hope so, because I only have about 45 more days left on the warranty.

@placethefive:

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a lot of nuisance issues you've had to deal with. Before I started researching RVs, I assumed expensive rigs were perfect, problem-free. Some might say these are routine problems that can arise with any brand, but I wonder what the difference is in the average number of issues between a Newmar and a Gulfstream, for example. Too bad JD Power & Associates doesn't do an RV quality survey.

I have owned a GS 07-G8 Friendship for over three years now and can only tell you I have had very few problems with it and what I have had have been taken care of promptly by either the dealer or GS factory. (I have had no problem getting hold of them if needed).

I tried last year to work a deal on the Constallation that GS had in all the shows and would have closed the deal out in a heart beat had the numbers worked.

If I were you I would consider going to GSowners.com web site for other first hand info rather than to look for answer's on this fourm. You might as well get first hand knowledge from the people that owen the product.

The costallation is a great coach and if the deal is right for you I'd buy it in a flash. Also remember GS is still in business building coachs with a good dealer network and in todays MH market thats a feat in its self.

Thanks for your feedback, 11B! Great suggestion on the gsowners.com. I've peeked in on the board, but haven't actually spent much time there. I'll look into it now.

It seems that Gulfstream has a very compelling product with the Constellation in spaciousness and usable layout. I'd have to pay a whole heck of a lot more for an older Newmar to get more reliability but less features! My only real complaint about the Constellation is lack of a 3rd slide opposite the full-wall slide, but from studying the floorplans it seems only 6" narrower than the Essex with all slides out. And someone mentioned the lack of a full-size fridge, but I don't full-time, so it's less of an issue for me. I do wish it had the Mercedes 330 hp engine, which I hear is very fuel efficient.

I'd sure like to get into that '09 Constellation at mhsrv.com, but I'm not quite in the market just yet.

Davidahn, I am a very unbiased person as far as selectiing motorhomes, BUT! like somebody else mentioned in another post. In this forum you are not going to find any RVers that will support buying a Gulf Stream coach. This forum is controlled by the Newmar and Tiffin owners. And I am not saying that those are not good coaches, They are! But if you are looking for the perfect trouble free coach, then you are not going to find one. I can show you previous posts on all kinds of different brands including Newmar, Travel Supreme and Monacos where they have had nightmarish coaches in those brands. It can happen with any brand of coach. All I am saying to you and you can take it or leave it, is my experience with a Gulf Stream Scenic Cruiser and that it has been a very good coach, but that does not mean that all are like mine. There might be somebody out there that might have had some problems.
What bothers me though are RVers that compain about everything and it would not matter which brand they have, they beat that poor horse to death where pretty soon other RVers start wondering if it is true. I don't play that kind of games. I tell it as I see it and if you don't care for my direct approach, then I will not try to give you my experience with Gulf Stream.

Ray, I do appreciate your input. Thank you for that; it was indeed what I was looking for! I was simply commenting on the confrontational tone you seem to take at times with people who disagree.
