Yes, plans are for the November launch. According to KSC website it's now set for Nov 12 - 4:22 pm +.
We've been crazy busy this summer with work and family, and are taking a 5-day getaway next week. Not even sure where we're going - just the 2 of us, a full tank of fuel and head out. Probably end up in a rest area or Walmart the first night and then explore some of the spring-fed rivers in Central Fla.
After that, we'll start getting plans made for AARS-SLAP.
Hope everyone is having a good summer!

Al

OK, here we go!
Made reservations at Manatee Hammock for Nov 11 - 15. They don't reserve specific sites, but I told Jeanine that we would have several more families and we all want to be in the same area. In the past they've always been very accommodating with such requests. She noted on our card that there would be others in our group. Just mention that you're with the "Brunks" and she'll get you all set up.
Manatee Hammock is a Brevard County park and is a GREAT place to view the launch with NO driving. There's a large grassy area right on the water that's an easy walk from the campground.
- Website: manateehammock@brevardparks.com
- Phone: (321) 264-5083
- They put 2 night's reservations on your credit card ($49) and you settle the rest at check-in.
- Golf carts are allowed, no ATV's.
- If you've never been to Kennedy Space Center it's well worth the visit, as well. Allow yourself a full day for that, if you go.
This will be our 3rd launch and it's always an awesome experience. Hope y'all can make it!

I talked to Manatee Hammock this morning. They're "holding" 6 sites for our group, but need people to call this week to reserve. One main criteria for them is size of the rigs involved and then they'll assign a section where we can be close together.
Don't take this as we're limited to six, that was just a number I threw out based on our trip to Ocala in March, so they're doing us the courtesy of holding those spots for a week.

I'll have the wife but in for off that week, we will most likely leave late Wednesday and get there early Thursday, so the kids only miss two days of school. A students last year so it shouldn't be an issue.......

Al,
We are really looking hard at coming down for this. It's Wendy's birthday on Friday the 13th. My only concern is if everyone is going to cancel if they scrub the launch and move the date...How many will camp regardless of the shuttle launch??

Kevin -
Wendy's birthday is Friday the 13th?! That's reason enough for a party right there! Then, I see John's wife's is on the same day? Done.
It's always a crapshoot on the launch being scrubbed and it often happens at the last minute. Many times, though (depending on the cause - like the weather) it goes within a day or two. That's why we get a site for a few days after the scheduled launch date. If it doesn't go within that period, then it's usually something more serious and could be weeks or even months. In that case, we just figure we got a camping trip out of it anyway. With all the other things to do in the area it still makes for a great trip.
If it WERE postponed far enough ahead of time we could look at re-scheduling. I think there's a small fee (like 10 bucks) to change your reservation, but we can deal with that at the time.

Originally scheduled for August 6, it looks like STS-128 (Discovery) will finally go up at midnight tonight. Hopefully, we'll have better luck in November. At least the weather should be less of a factor at that time.
Anyone else reserved a site yet?
(Kevin - We're counting on you to bring the corn-hole game!)
