Ok, the house is sold, money put into a CD for future use if needed, furniture and other household items in storage, read all the books and have set up a home base here in Oklahoma, ready to start full timimg-or are we? Have we missed anything? Is there something we are overlooking? This seems to be to easy, everything falling into place I and the DW can't help but think we are overlooking something. Our son and his family live here in town, and we are using their address for our home address, They have agreed to forward mail (They will always know where we are). We have our prescriptions on a mail pharmacy thru our insurance carrier with auto refills sent every ninety days. Pensions are on direct deposit, and the few bills we have are on a bill-pay thru our credit union. The one thing left to do is find a wireless internet provider and get a new computer. Probably do that next week and are leaning toward AT&T as our provider. Verizon is our second choice-Any feedback here would be appreciated. Those of you who are experienced in full-timing please let me if we left anything out. Thank you in advance.

Not a full timer, but your post confuses me a bit. Why do you think you need a wireless internet provider? Most RV parks we have stayed at have WIFI internet service free with a password obtained at check-in time. That is all you need if you get a computer that is WIFI capable.

For email, use Yahoo or (shudder) Gmail. Many others available.

Sounds like you've got everything under control - good research & planning on your part!

Don't know if you'll need the mail forwarding. I eliminated all paper possible & tell my daughter if it looks important, open it up. Only time she has to forward anything is tax stuff in February.

Can't help you on the AT&T vs Verizon. I have Verizon cell phone & am happy with that, but for internet I use WiFi where I can find it or dial up otherwise. I would advise checking your credit card charges frequently. Couple of years ago I caught some phoney charges. No problem getting them removed, but had to get a new card.

Most important thing is - ENJOY!

co_farmer you may be right, but I have been to CG's that advertise WiFi and no one could get linked except those with wireless. This may have been a fluke but my IT people where I worked before retiring last month say wireless is the way to go.

We are full timers and found that campgrounds usually have poor or no WIFI available. There are exceptions to the above, but we subscribed to Verizon wireless a year or so ago and love the flexibility of having a connection whenever we want it. We have traveled from CA to NY and most places in between and have found that we can connect almost always via verizon.

We use State Parks, COE, National Parks, County parks, friends driveways, etc and none of them provide free wifi. So for us, the aircard is a necessity.

Got a satellite tv system? If not, I'd tend to spend money on a dish rather than the air card.

My advice,,get to it,,you arent getting younger, its a great life!

Once you are on the road, you can always find a fix what you forgot!

A few years ago we got tired of not being able to access the advertised wireless at campgrounds and got a Verizon air card. When we bought our s/b we have continued using it and couldn't be happier. We don't have a land line at home and with the air card our Internet access is ready to travel whenever we are.

It's been our experience that Verizon has greater coverage than any other provider we've come across. While there are still some areas with no coverage, we were frequently able to get online when others in the same area couldn't.

Did you notify your insurance company that you will now be full time? There is different coverage you may need when fulltiming.

As a fulltimer who goes to lots of out of the way places, I recommend Verizon for both cellphone and cellular modem. I got a cellphone and modem that use the same connector for the Wilson amplifiers and external antennas that I have. I have two systems - a hard wired one for the MH and a portable one for the dinghy. I recommend that you at least have a portable system. There's nothing more frustrating than having no connections. With the amp and antenna, I've been in several places where I was the only one with a tower connection - both voice and data.
Here's where I got my equipment: Link

Another vote for verizon. I use the usb727 aircard, very good coverage thru-out the US. There are a few "dead spots", despite what their commercials say. Yes, get an aircard, cg wifi may or may not be as advertised. I would be lost without an internet connection. Banking, email, cg reviews, routing/mapping, and reseaching new areas just to name a few reasons for www.

Welcome to the FT life!!! Many miles of safe travel, new friends, and great sights around the US
