In Ft. Myers I have a lifetime membership to the Lee County Recreation center on Sumerlin Rd. It's a big new facility. There's ball courts and a weight room. This year I'm going to get in shape.
I ride my bicycle there, down the 10 mile linear park. It's an old RR bed along a canal. There's a 7' aligator that lives in the ditch beside the trail. Last year she had babies. I ride to the beach, to Sanibel Island. All toll bridges are closed to pedestrians, but free to bicycles. The whole county is covered with bike trails. You can bicycle about everywhere. Downtown Ft. Myers has been refurbished in it's art-deco style of the 30's. Palm trees and brick paved streets. Sometimes I take a break at the sidewalk cafe's. Other times it's to Harley-Davidson to look at motorcycles and sip their free coffee. The fruit shipping house on Sumerlin is a good place to refill my water bottle because it's filtered water. Then ride up to 7 mile slough. It's a city installation that has about a mile of boardwalk out into the swamp. they have free loaner binoculars if you want them. Cape Coral has a boardwalk into the swamp too. Right by the Veterans Memorial bridge.
Our favorite restaurant is THE SMOKI'N PIT Barbecue house in North Ft. Myers.
We have in previous years bought annual passes to Universal studios in Orlando and went all we wanted in the spring, then come back next year in the fall on the same pass. Been to Disney a lot. DW says "No more theme parks!"
BUT! BUT! BUT! this year Busch gardens has a special! Buy a ticket for $70 and come back all you want 'till Jan 1st!
I think she's softening a little. We'll see.
I ride my motorcycle to everglades city, Tampa for the camper show. Whatever events are too far away. Never been to bike week in Daytona. DW says I'm too old.
Took the camper to Boyd's campground in Key West one year. Pretty neat to hang the tail of your camper over the Atlantic. The Fischer Museum of the gold of the Atocha is something to see!
DW's looking forward to seing old friends at "our" campground. She doesn't bike much (either kind). She'd rather brouse Beals outlet or The Pottery Barn. A couple of times we've rented a canoe and took it down the Estero River. Once a kayak in Cape Coral. DW's absolute favorite restaurant is Iguana Mia in Ft. Myers. It's even better than Papasito's in Houston.
Probably the best time we ever had was last New Year when the campground had a carry in dinner & bonfire. First time we stayed up 'till midnight in years!

Favorite Place has got to be the Webster Flea Market. Have been to the flea at Pinellas but was disappointed. If Florida didn't have flea markets, what would you do on the weekends?

For two years I've been exploring the wonderful interconnecting MUP (multiple use paths) in the Ft. Myers area. Which includes Cape Coral, Ft Myers, North Ft. Myers and Ft. Myers Beach. (same names, different towns)
The highlight is their city parks. They're more like wildlife sanctuaries with boardwalks right out into the swamp.
Here's some pictures of how I spend my day, every day exploring.
I apologize for the picture quality as it's only a cell phone camera. But this year my wife says I can use her 5 megapixel cell phone.

Skip1 restaurant in Ft. Myers. Get there early to get a table. The restaurant has its own boats to bring in fresh seafood.
Take the kayaking class in Manatee Park when the manatees are in.
We took the lunch cruise to Cabbage Key from Punta Gorda.
Take the cruise from Ft. Myers to the Franklin locks going towards Lake Okechobee.
At Christmas stay at Boyd's in Key West and take the night trolley from the park to see the decorations.
