We've stayed at Woody's Acres. Not high end but nice. Gov't pier not too far away. $1.00 a day I'm told. Not that I fished there, but I'm told some of the best fishing in the world.

Rockport Texas is a wonderful place to Winter. The fishing CAN be good, but like everything else, subject to bad years.
There are plenty of public piers to fish from, but if you do come down, PM me, and we can take our boat and get some fun times in. Not a fancy boat, but well suited for the bay.
Give Raintree RV park a look. The owners and most of the guests are from Minn, Wis, Mich, or Ont. Again, not fancy, but a great place to spend some time. Oh, and we have a cruise planned for sometime in Feb. Love to have you.

We stay at Lagoons and really like it. DH is a sea kayaker/fisherman and he finds many places to fish both on piers and in his kayaks.

Thanks for some of the tips and even an offer for the boat and cruise . Where does one take the cruise out of there anyways ? I thought it would be up by Houston .

We stayed at one at Fulton Beach just across from the bay but I can't remember the name. Don't miss the worlds largest Live Oak tree & the Fulton Mansion. Also Goose Island State Park. Some good seafood there too. Goose Island State Park has some nice campsites.

Goose Island State Park is just across the Copano bridge from Rockport. There is a pier in the park, no fishing license required if you fish inside Texas State Parks. There is also a pier on each side of the Copano bridge. You are only 15 miles from Port Aransas and the jetties on the pass with free fishing and piers into the Gulf for small charge, also Charlies Pasture in Port A a new city park with pier into the ship channel. Mustang Island State Park is just down the road from Port A and farther down is Bob Hall Pier and then Padre Island National Seashore with the best surf fishing I have ever done.

I second Goose Island SP. If you don't mind the wind, I recommend the bayside campsites on a spit of land in the bay, near the fishing pier.

Another vote for Goose Island. There are sites right on the water where you can surf fish, and also inland sites away from the water. Another good one is Sand Dollar RV park which has its own fishing pier. We stayed at Lagoons but didn't care for it. Their sites are among the smallest we've seen (our neighbors sewer hookup was literally 2 feet in front of our entrance steps!), plus they don't honor their agreements. We had paid in advance for a month, and had a "paid in full" receipt, and they still demanded almost $200 more when we arrived! Her response was "feel free to go elsewhere if you don't like it", and I would have except I didn't know if I could get a site anywhere else without reservations, so I just paid the extra that they demanded, but I would never go there again. I spoke later to another couple who had the same experience there.
