We've been camping for years, with a 30 foot 5th wheel, but any advice for new parents on camping with babies?? how young is too young? things I should be prepared for? any advice is greatly appreciated.

Isn't that what grandparents are for - babysitting. It's been 34 yrs since we camped with 1-yr old in tent. That wasn't a whole lot of fun, and, guess what, he doesn't remember it.
Personallt, I wouldn't want to do it. Might as well stay home where it's a lot easier. But that's me. Our 5vr sleeps 6, so they say. However, DW I have maintain it only sleeps 2. So far, so good.

Never to young for camping!!Babies need food, diapers, warmth and love, no matter at home or in camper. I would carry a copy of medical shots..current prescriptions..thermometer..adequate clothing for season.. pack in play..We always carry permission papers to have the authority to take our grandchildren to hospital or Dr.You never know when parent is unavailable or unable to make decisions. We always know where the nearest hospital is.And always make sure your phone works in the area you are in or how to get to a ranger station. Other than that have FUN. They won't remember the trips. As they get older bits and pieces will be retained. I have 5 children and it's a blast to see what they don't remember growing up.

My DW and I used to have a 28 ft hybrid and took both of our kids camping when they were infants. We removed the table and set up a playpen so they could sleep in it at night. The only thing I will NEVER do again is go camping with a teething infant. The kids (now 4 and 5) love camping. We have since upgraded to a 30 ft bunkhouse style TT---now the kids are bigger and each has their own bunk plus room for more toys. Anyhow just bring all the stuff you think you'll need and cash for the run to Wal-mart to get the stuff you forgot. Have fun and bring the baby you won't regret it.

There's no minimum age. My wife and I started camping with our youngest in a tent when he was less than a month old. The important thing for one so young is temperature control (neither too hot nor too cold) and keeping him/her dry.

When our kids were small (babies) they all went camping. At that time we had a 32' fifth wheel which made things alot easier,alot of stuff go's with the babies and you need alot of room for there stuff. My wife would try to keep the routine the same as at home with Bath time and Bed time and such. I will say this "Its Alot of Work" but it is so worth it, Get out there and Have Fun.

You have a nice 5th wheel with a slideout. It is really just a small version of your house. If you can explain to me what the difference is between what you need in the house and what you need in the RV, then I can answer your question. I guess whatever you need for the baby in the house, you will need in the RV. I am thinking diapers, baby wipes, baby clothes, baby food, bed or a pallet on the floor, maybe the stroller.

We were tent camping with our 6 month old twins 17 years ago. (We were 38 & 48)). We moved up to an old short Class C when they were about 9 years old. Great memories - I only remember them toddling around in footed pajamas at 18 months. Don't remember anything bad.
And what great pictures. There was one old stump at Rock Cut State Park that we still go back to, to have the soon to be 18 year olds pose for a picture.

I have a 15 month old that has been camping since she was about 8 weeks old. It is harder, but its fun to watch her when she discovers something new. We also take a now 6 year old with us, and the same thing except she is much less work and loves to go camping. give that little one a chance. whileyou are about it, Have yourself a ball!

We took DD when she was 6 weeks the 1st time. Just same thing as home, feed 'em, change''em, love 'em. We had a pack-n-play for her to sleep in (when she wasn't trying to sleep in our bed) I got a stadium blanket (water proof on one side, soft on the other) to lay on the ground so she could explore a little.
Just make sure to take plenty of diapers
