Corn is in the feeders now. You can buy it at Wal-mart, all the gas stations, feed stores, etc. - called 'Deer Corn' this time of year so they can charge more. I think he has a bit of that C'mere Deer mixed in and then a few salt licks in the area.

My neighbor got caught up in Pa. Hunting over bait, (corn) cost him $350.00 dollars and lost his right to hunt in Pa. for two years.

Wow, no law like that in Texas. We have specific date you can hunt, some archery only, and each county has a limit on how many bucks and does can be harvested. You also have a total limit of tags that you are issues when you buy your license. You also have to look at their antlers and their ears to determine if they are legal to shoot or not. But you can use feeders, plant all the bait crops you want, etc.
Only bait laws I know of involve migratory birds, but I am limited in my hunting laws on animals that my husband doesn't hunt. With dove, you can not hunt in an area that is baited or was baited less than 8 days prior.

Based on the antlers and the backside, I would say it's an Elk. Very cool picture. Might have to make it my PC background ....
