Rental, damage, cleaning deposits for Class B+ or C?
We are renting a Winnebago 23’ 2007 Navion from a private party dealer to see if RVing is for us and if we want to purchase down the road.
Does anyone know what the typical price per day for such a unit is, as well as the deposit fees for damages, cleaning, etc.?

Um, 'private party dealer' is pretty much a self=contradictory term. Can you express it a different way?

Call your auto insurance company to answer such questions. Your policy may have a rider covering an RV rental.
Regarding rates, if renting from a common source, a Navion would likely be more than your conventional class-c. But given it's from a private party, I would think they would have to be competitively priced.
There are a few sales places that would apply your rental fees toward the purchase of that RV. Maybe the private party you plan to rent from, will offer that too. After your trip, if you fell in love with it, you may be able to buy it, minus the rental cost.

The insurance is included.

I don’t know what is competitive because it’s our first time. That’s the issue. Based on our research, it does seem expensive though.

The unit is not for sale. This guy is a rental agent.

Cruise America is a whole different animal, an example of entropy if there ever was one. They have only certain types of units and not very nice ones at that from what we saw. In our region, they are the bottom of the barrel.
The deposits on the private unit seem quite high to us. However, the unit is much nicer than anything Cruise America offers and it’s a diesel. If it were our unit, we’d probably want some serious security as well.
Anyone got some dollar figures?
Just wondering.

If by Way Out West you mean So Califorin, try contacting Metro RV either in Santa Ana or Burbank(MetroRV.com) or El Monte RV Rentals. This will give you local rates and deposits.

if it was my View/Navion I would want ~$200 a day plus $500-$1000 deposit paid in advance...you rarely see one of these rigs for rent so the price will be high...but they are very nice rigs...or you can go to Cruise America or El Monte for a high mileage rental to check out rv'ng...may be a better option?

Based on what you are saying, we may be getting a "bargain." We are very fiscally conservative and are amazed at what even crummy RVs cost to rent.
That said, we are very exited about finally being able to make this trip with our dear doggies one of whom is worrying us terribly at this point. He’s had a rough couple of days.
I’m looking for a ramp so he can get in and out of the RV with ease.

You would do well to look at the limits of coverage in the included insurance policy - you may be undercovered.

You might ask for a copy of that insurance policy. Mine prohibits coverage for rentals to others as well as coverage for my driving another unit. Your confusion over the "private party dealer" (who seems to be a rental broker) issue leaves me wondering how carefully these details were checked.
