We drove HWY 22 once in our chev van. It was a tough pull for it and it had power. I have told many rv'rs to not use this road when towing. I know I would not tow on it.

hpk You follow the Snake River. Easy drive as most is river grade. US 189 191 south to US 26 then to Idaho Falls. One short grade less than 6%. The Snake river goes from Jackson to Idaho Falls.

Hwy 18 from Lucerne to Big Bear, CA. Don't ask me how I came to buying a new engine!
If it ain't broke I can fix it
* Lance 1010 camper for when else fails
* Safari Trek 2830 Class A (else)
Why are the people that know how to fix everything busy driving taxis or cutting hair?

Markaguant High Plateau Scenic Byway...
Highway 14 between I-15 and Highway 89 in Utah… east of Cedar City...
That has been our most challenging so far. That and coming down the east side of Tioga where we could smell the brakes pretty good.

I don't quite get this one. Pendleton is about 3 miles from the bottom and LaGrande (where they build a lot of TTs) about 40 from the top going the other way. Plenty of fuel, either direction. ????????

Oregon from Brookings to Grants Pass route 199!!!,. Several Sections that are SO NARROW with a 1000 foot plus drop, that barely allow two Cars let alone RVS or Trucks to pass each other in opposite on Hair Pin Turns... GRAPE VINE, NO PROBLEMO, Cajon Pass, going down from Victorville to Fontana is VERY HEAVEY TRAFFIC with your typical Califonian driving Way over the speed limits, they won't let you in, they cut you off, and to tell the truth, I WISH I WERE A HIWAY PATROLMAN, Fining and throwing in jail nearly everyone of them! 299 from Redding to Eureka gets my vote too... Very steep and Windy going into WEAVERVILLE. Narrow and steep sections follow to the Coast..The section of road into Jackson Wyoming... Very steep and Windy, not only the way up, but down as well... Nearly thought the truck would not pull the load over the top, nor stop on the way down.. I-395 From Bishop up over Sherwin Summit... LONG AND STEEP... Worse for the Diesels without and EB brake on the way down.. 5 into oregon, not too bad... Long way up Utahs 80 to Park City... Hey Califronian Drivers! What in the World is the RUSH??? What is the DARNED HURRY!! When the speed limit is 65 isn't that fast enough??? Why do some feel the need to drive 90MPH PLUS??? Why???

Hi Ken,
Not true Ken. My fishing hole has a 18% grade and I have no problem controlling 18kGCW. In 1st-low and 2nd-low, I have too add fuel too descend the 18% grade. In 3rd-low, I run about 3000rpm without adding fuel or just right.
On a diesel, you need too use redline rpm's for compression braking. On my PSD, thats' 3400rpm, so I use 3400rpm tops then brake until I hit 3000rpm then let the rpm climb back too 3400rpm, then repeat until I'm off the grade.
This driving style works well for controlling 31kGCW on my F350 with my 40ft flatbed on 7% grades.
Although my PSD is Ford redline marked at 3400rpm, the PSD drag racers continually use 4000rpm without any short term problems on the 7.3 PSD.
I'm Ford stock, no mods
