Well my 06 F350 siezed it's 3rd turbo this weekend and I am at wits end with it. Had to get my rig towed home from Jawbone Sunday and now I don't know what to do.
1.0 I need to rent something for this comming up weekend. Need a TV to take my rig to Perris and not sure where to rent something to tow it.
Is there a better truck I should get? Dodge 3500??? I am scared of Ford. I have the 6.0 and they keep switching motors. I don't know if I should get another one. I only have 87K on my truck and can't keep dealing with it breaking down. First the turbo pipe has blown off going up hills several times they replaced the turbo now it comes out my tail pipe in pieces on fire and black smoke.
Any recomendations?

That is terrible! I have a 06 f-250 and have not had any problems with it. What mileage did you start having problems? I personally like ford just because they have held together better than any other truck I have owned. I have owned the big three!!

It all started around 80K. Turbo, injectors, turbo, turbo and so on. It is very frustrating. I love my truck but I am very disapointed in it right now.
We do a lot of towing. We tow around 40 weekends out of the year.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where you can rent a TV. I do, however, understand your wanting to replace your current TV. I had a 5th wheel before I bought my current coach. I did a ton of research before selecting a TV. There were good and bad points to all of them but the Dodge 3500 came out on top for me for a lot of reasons too many to explain here. I bought a Dodge 3500 and towed my 2004 KZ Sportsman 37 ft. with 3 slides for thousands of miles with no issues. I added a K&N air filter system to it and installed a Predator chip device to it to get better diesel mileage. Both these gave me everything I wanted as far as power and mileage. My recommendation would be to look at replacing your TV with a Dodge 3500. Mine had the 5.9 engine. I have no experience with the newer engines. My maintenance was just typical maintenance items, nothing beyond that. I sold it to a guy who has a RV repair business and he still uses it to pickup and move 5th wheels to and from his business. It has over 350,000 miles on it and is still going strong. He did have a water pump go out at about 275,000 miles but that is all. I do not think you can go wrong with a Dodge 3500. I hope this information helps you pick a new TV.

I rented an f-250 with a class 4 hitch from enterprise commercial division a few years ago when my new f-350 lost a trans. Not sure if you will find anything with a fifth wheel hitch though it might be worth a call.

I have a buddy who lost his Turbo on his 05 F-350 with only 26K miles. Apparently the problem is corrosion build up having to do with the EGR setup. The turbo seized and blew out his intercooler to add insult to injury. The turbo was warrantied and the replacement was nickel plated. Ford is obviously well aware of the problem. If you want to keep the truck, do some research on the EGR. There are fixes to cure the corrosion issue. I know I've seen some writes up in a magazine or two. As for a new TV, that opens up a can of worms. A Ford with a Cummins would be great. For me, I love my Duramax.
Forgot to mention, my buddy got his truck home (broke down in Wyoming) and immediately put it up for sale. He managed to get $27K out of it which kind of shocked me. The guy who bought it was well aware of the 6.0 issues but said he'd buy an extended warranty.

new or used...go with a duramax
your ford is the 6.0 ford had many documented problems with their "sick" liter. my neighbor just had ford buy back his dually. they tried to make him a sweet deal on a 6.4
he went and bought a new duramax.....
ford should have stuck with the 7.3

You will NOT beat the Duramax / Allison combination. I dont care who says what. I have owned Ford F-250, Dodge 2500, and now a Chevy 2500HD and hands down the Chevy out performs, gets better gas milage, rides better, and so far at 150 thousand miles I have not had to do a single thing except standard maintenance. I have it programmed and am sitting at over 1000 lbs of torque and about 650HP so its being punished and working hard. Still no issues. I tow a 40' Toyhauler and a 28' Boat.

Also be careful putting Banks or any kind of chip on the Ford 6 liters. The head bolts will stretch and you will be in a world of hurt. IF you must go with a Ford, go with their tried and true motor, the 7.3.
