Last summer, we did Newfoundland. This year we were thinking about crossing at S.S. Marie, and going around to Thunder Bay or Winnepeg.
Is the road comfortable in a 41 foot MH with a toad??
Any must see places would be very helpful. We will probably tow a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, so some out of the way places should be reachable.
Thanks, in advance, the Muffin Man, eh!!!

You'll be amazed at how fast you'll pick up the Canadian language
We toured around the lake last summer in the car on the southern part of the lake were many pull offs where you have the white sandy beaches all to yourself, notable stops on the southside were
Tahquamenon State Park
Copper Harbour
Marquette downtown.
North shore
Neys Provincial Park
Pancake Bay PP
Lake Superior PP
Just a fraction of what there is to see and do on a trip around the lake..
Lake Superior Circle tour
Our only regret was not taking a couple of boat excursions out into the lake..

If you schedule will permit, the locks at Sault Ste. Marie are open to the public one day each year. In 2010, Engineer's Day will be Friday, June 25. You can walk across the lock walls. You can watch big freighters go through the locks, up close and personal.

It's a comfortable drive with a 40' fiver w/ tow vehicle. Don't know how it might be for your MH.

Hi studmuffin,
There are some pictographs done by the natives in prehistory times North of Superior. It is a *do not miss* item.

I would agree with the post earlier re: parks to visit - and would add a couple of others:
- Sleeping Giant Provincial Park
- Pukaskwa National Park
- Ouimet Canyon Provincial Park (day use visit only)
You will not have any difficulties with the roads (although the stretch from Nipigon to Thunder Bay is being rebuilt in sections - for a reason).
However - Provincial Parks don't always have a large number of campsites that will accommodate big rigs - you might want to check the website for each park to check out the availability of large campsites: www.ontarioparks.com
The north shore of Superior is a nice chunk of country - take your time to enjoy it - and do your best to overnight or spend time in those parks with campgrounds on the shore. After many years of travelling this shoreline our favourite overnight stops are now Agawa Bay Campground of Lake Superior Provincial Park, Neys Provincial Park and Rossport Campground of Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. Parks where you can comfortably spend a couple of days to see and enjoy a larger area would be Lake Superior, Neys and Sleeping Giant. If you are into sunning on the beach then include Pancake Bay.
Reservations are not normally needed (perhaps excepting long weekends) - but - if you know your dates and want a premium site - or to ensure yourself of a site that will fit your rig - then you might want to consider them.
Enjoy your trip.
