You folks are fantastic! Many thanks for the recommendations and if I haven't replied personally I apologize for that. We're currently in the Susanville, CA area and are heading to the Lassen National Forest. Nights are cool, but no snow. We're fully winterized so no problems there. However, Carson City and West might be interesting if we don't get caught in some bad weather. Then, it's southward again. We'll keep you posted. Take care.

Cheers,
Kevin & Gay

Reader's Digest has a wonderful book: The Most Scenic Drives in America. It is user friendly, gives invaluable info about times of year to visit, road conditions, things to see and do, a bit of the history of the area, and wonderful pictures.

We keep ours handy and always check to see what is in the area. I recommend checking it out when you are in an area with a well-stocked book store.

Take a look at the Rockport, TX area. There are a lot of nice RV parks there and the prices per month are reasonable. It is nice to have reservations but we got into a very nice one without them and stayed for two months.

On your travels, don't forget Central Texas, Kerrville, Bandera, Fredericksbug (a German town with great shopping, women love it, and the National Museum of the Pacific War, www.nimitz-museum.org). Then come on over and visit Austin and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum www.thestoryoftexas.com and then move on down to San Antonio.

I have never been there, but I hear that Betty's RV Park www.bettysrvpark.com in Abbyville, LA is a great place to stay while you visit Cajun Country in South Lousiania. It is a very small park and very popular so you will need to make reservations. From what I read, you won't regret it.

I envy you your trip, sounds like fun.

Wow... San Diego, Santa Barbara, Carpenteria right on the beach, all are wonderful for wintering and mostly warm enough for us Canucks. Really cold in San Diego is overnight lows of 40 something and daytime is in the 60s plus at the coldest. We were in L.A. over Christmas a few years back and it made the news that the temps were only on the 60s for highs. Folks were wearing parkas and gloves while we were wearing shorts and t-shirts having just left 40 below.

Been there, done that, gonna go back and do it all over again slower this time.

So, you left the Okanagan Valley to go to a warmer climate. Funny, how things are relative. If someone had asked US - Manitobans - to winter in the Okanagan, we would have jumped at it!

If your looking for warm weather, lots of activities, but don't want to be in a large city consider Destiny Rv Resorts - Phoenix West, in Goodyear, AZ. All the winter weather Phoenix is famous for, 30 minutes from downtown Phoenix (during non rush hour times), yet in a quiet almost rural area. I've never stayed in this park since I live within five miles, but set my travel trailer up there for my sister and a friend to use while visiting from New England. The park is extremely clean and well maintained, and the stsaff were very easy to work with. My sister and her friend both gave praise to the facilities and staff.

Happy traveling, Don
