That is people waving at me?
Gee, I thought they were telling me that I was the number one driver!

I do find more wavers in the country back home in Tennessee than I find here in Florida. If I see you wave then I will return the waive. Many times when I wave, I get a wave back. Just keep waving.

Recently I was returning from Gettysburg. I was on a two lane highway and visibility was clear. As a fellow RVer would drive by I would wave. Not one person waved back. I gave them enough time to wave back but no response. I even had a couple guys look at me like I was crazy. Maybe I am.

No, you aren't crazy. Some folks just aren't as friendly as you maybe. Me? I like to wave at other RVer's. Like you, some never wave and other times they do. Maybe they're grumpy because they're heading back to a job in the city!

Maybe they don't see you. I know it is hard to see some drivers as they sit back in a shadow and behind a tinted windshield. And maybe they are focused on looking down the road ahead of them to get a big picture on the situation ahead of them. It is called "Defensive driving". So don't be too disappointed if they don't wave.

From time to time someone mentions that they wave at other RVs, but seldom get a return wave. Believe me, it's not because everyone is rude or stuck up. I will wave now that I drive a very stable motorhome, but for the first 20 years, my motorhomes were not stable enough for me to comfortably take one hand off the steering wheel.

You may be driving a better handling rig or you might be a better driver. Coming in the other direction, I doubt you could have seen my white knuckles.

As a native Kentuckian living in a rural area, we wave alot and get offended when you don't wave back.

For 2-hand driving, one simply waves with thier index finger as you correct your steering. And no, I'm not talking about the 'middle'finger. This is quite common in the mountains where folks drive on the 'up-hill' side of the road rather than next to the 'drop-off' reguardless of where they are supposed to be.

When said driver meets an oncoming vehicle, said driver smiles and waves with his or her index finger as they steer back to their correct side of the road.

Couldn't resist, lol-Fred

When I rode motorcycle I would wave and everyone waved back, brotherhood of the road. With the MH I seldom wave. Like the OP stated it's because it takes two hands and concentration to drive my rig pulling a car.

When I bought it I had visions of a coffee cup in one hand, steering with the other, and whistling "on the road again." Couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth.

The reason I do NOT wave is because I like to practice mind control. I refuse to get into the wave game. What if I wave, and don't get a wave back? You think I want to spend the rest of my trip brooding about why I didn't get the wave? Heck NO, NOT ME! Mind control, that's where it's at.......

I believe it is called tunnel vision, and is very dangerious. You need to see what is going on around you, not just what is directly in front of you. Or something might jump in your tunnel, and get you.

When on a rural road many folks wave, get used to it.

When we hook up the 5er and go, I wave at all vehicles who look like they might be an RV.

If you are going for a "white knuckle ride", IMO you shouldn't be on the road.

Look at all the negative adjectives! To mane a few... rude, stuck up, allergy, unfriendly, grumpy, tunnel vision...

How about looking at it from a different perspective? Those that don't wave back are paying attention to their driving and road conditions and rigs on the road instead of peering through other people's windshields.
