I'm a waver, but I fully understand if people don't wave back. And they usually don't.

Every time someone waves at me in my RV it means I've blown another tire!

Ditto.

DW and I even comment when we see another rig coming the opposite direction on the interstate. We'll say..."Class A", "5th wheel", etc. and give a little salute. Just our thing. Helps pass the time. Everybody's different and that is okay.

Our youngest, 2yo, sits strapped in the barrel seat behind Mom in his car seat. He yells out "Mo Home" no matter what type of RV we pass. We are trying to teach him the difference in MH's/A's/B's/C's/TT's/5th wheels, which will come, but we are happy that he notes the RV's and "Big Trucks" as he has global developmental delay. Guess I will start waiving more and teach him to do so too.

Most folks at RV parks and campgrounds wave.

Let's all wave more, our fellow man needs a little uplift.

No, you aren't crazy. Some folks just aren't as friendly as you maybe. Me? I like to wave at other RVer's. Like you, some never wave and other times they do. Maybe they're grumpy because they're heading back to a job in the city!

Maybe they don't see you. I know it is hard to see some drivers as they sit back in a shadow and behind a tinted windshield. And maybe they are focused on looking down the road ahead of them to get a big picture on the situation ahead of them. It is called "Defensive driving". So don't be too disappointed if they don't wave.

I believe it is called tunnel vision, and is very dangerious. You need to see what is going on around you, not just what is directly in front of you. Or something might jump in your tunnel, and get you.

Yes I should have added that is just one part of Defensive driving, there are many more parts and "seeing what is going on around you" is also another part of defensive driving. But that is another whole subject. But my point is I don't waste my time looking into the cockpit of every RV that is approaching just to see if they are waving, I have more important things to make sure I am operating in a safe manner. But thanks for pointing out the "Tunnel Vision" aspect. It is important.

I wave if we're within a reasonable distance otherwise it's often futile especially on an interstate with 300' of median.

If I see a wave, I wave back. BUT, usually when I see the wave and I respond, I am past the point where the other driver would see it. I would say more often than not I can't see into the other persons coach due to glare. On top of that, I don't really try to look into the other persons windshield.

It might be nothing more than the drivers not wanting to take a hand off of the wheel to wave. To me waving is farther away from the sense of defensive driving than the stretch that they might not be paying attention enough.

I see rv's on widely separated interstates a lot than I do on rural 2 lane roads. By the time they get close enough to see if they are waving and merit a return wave, they are passing me by. And if you think I am gonna drive single handed on a 2 lane county road with another rv heading right at me...

I usually wave but only see about 1/3 of the time anyone waving back...even fewer times that they inititate the wave. And here I am just trying to change the RV world one wave at a time...

Heck here in rural New Mexico we wave at everything, deer, coyotes, javalina, road runners, elk, cowboys, farmers, other drivers. The drivers, cowboys and farmers always wave back, the others are to independent but we're working on them. We don't wave much on the interstates the medians are some times 1/4 mile wide.
