i have a 02 gmc with a 6-1/2 foot bed and it looks like hauling a golfcart will only work with the tailgate down any suggestions on how to over come the interference of the tailgate and the trailer jack.
im thinking of bolting runners in the truck bed for the cart wheels to sit in and removing the tailgate that way just the 2 runners will stick out and should be wide enough to not interfear with the jack on the TT. and a lifted golfcart will set high enough to clear over top by a good amount

Get a hitch extension. You probably only need a few inches, maybe 12 or so. They are not too expensive, probably under $100. The only drawback is that your towing capacity drops some using them. Don't know what your rig is or trailer is so you should check with the dealer where you buy them or look online to see what the capacity will be. You can buy them up to I believe 48" long although the towing capacity drops considerably with it. A lot of truck campers use them. Gary

adding a extension will reduce the hitch carrying rating by ½ …

And some prevent you from using WD…

Do this with snowmobiles all the time. Load the golf cart. Jack up the back end close the tailgate. I can lift the back end of the snomo while DW closes tailgate. Don't think I can lift the back end of my golf cart.

If your golf cart is 8.5ft or less long and 6.5ft or less wide, how about loading it crosswise on a rack that mounts on top of the bed rails? Might even get cart width of 7ft on there...

jwbagm, let me know what you arrive at. I think the DW wants a GC and I would like to know how you did it.
