We have a 2002 Damon UltraSport that we fulltime in. I have already junked the old furniture (we bought it new and used the stuff for a while...just didn't work for us.) Now I am having "issues" with the wall of mirrors that cover the wall in the dining area when the LR/DR slide is out. I hate them! My fur kids food bowls and water dish are in that area when we are set up and all of a sudden my 18 year old queen of the felines has decided to use the water bowl for a bathtub. She splashes the mirror several times a day. Not that I can't deal with that, I am just sick of losing wall space to hang family photos, art work etc.
My question...has anyone removed these mirrors? Does it make the MH look cramped when you did? Other MH's I have seen may have a hangeing mirror, not the entire surface mirrored.
I had a thought to drill with a special bit, and then hang stuff up. (removing stuff when on the road). Then I saw a website where a very creative homeowner had a large mirror that she didn't want to take down, so she painted it with several coats of magnetic paint (yep found it at Michael's) then covered it with chalkboard paint. She hung up magnetic spice jars, an additional knife holder rank, decorative kitchen stuff and even hung the calender and had magnets to hold up papers of various types like kids artwork. Plus it was great to jot down reminders and grocery lists using the chalk board feature.
I had thought to do only two panels in this treatment and then just attach a metal tray to cover the kitty "bathing area". I could use the other three panels to hand artwork using heavy duty 3M adhesive hooks. (removed when traveling also)
Or should we get the mirror panels removed and put in wall board in a complimentary color (painted or vinyl)? Would have a pro do this when we do other planned renovations over the next few months.
I have also posted this on a couple of other forums so I apologize in advance if you have seen this several times.

I am big on watching the DIY shows on HGTV and DIY. I don't know why the mirrors in a MH or TT would be any different than the ones at home. They do it all the time, just make sure you use a primer first that is for glass or mirror. Then make your own chalkboard paint in any color you want. Directions follow. That way, it won't have to be dark, you can use some lively colors.
Start with flat-finish latex paint in any shade. For small areas, such as a door panel, mix 1 cup at a time.
1. Pour 1 cup of paint into a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paint stirrer, carefully breaking up clumps.
2. Apply paint with a roller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in small sections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage. Let dry.
3. Smooth area with 150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust.
4. To condition: Rub the side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with a barely damp sponge.

We didn't take one down, but we did ask them not to install one in the dining area facing the slide-out when in. It did not make the room seem cramped, and it did allow us to hang a wall sculpture (a shallow one, of course)that we feel is far more attractive. I, too, hate all the mirrors they feel compelled to install.

Thanks for all the input! The colored chalkboard idea with the magnetic paint underneath is prolly my best bet. I think Sherwin Williams has some good primers for all types of jobs. I am happy to hear that not having that mirror in the dining slide out area won't make it too dark. I can't wait to get started!

We took the ones surrounding the counter area in the kitchen and tiled the wall area. Came out really good, looks better then the mirrors and adds color to the interior of the coach. Its yours, make it like you want it.
