Any of the vehicles that you mentioned should do very well with the TT you contemplated in your OP. Best of luck with all your shopping !

Of all the half tons built to haul a 5th wheel Dodge is not one of them.
<---Parts Manager at a Dodge Dealer and well versed in the aspects of towing with Dodge's, more so then your sales person. Shocker

TT okay, 5th wheel, NO WAY.

I'm the OP and---drum roll----we have decided to upgrade our TV. I'll miss my Durango, such a luxurious ride on long trips. We've test driven the 2010 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi and Ford 2010 1500 5.4 3.73. Most interested in the Ford with the MAX tow package, IBC, built in sway control assist (well, I said I'm not a mechanic!) Like the supercab, 6.5' box, 144.5' wheelbase. The 2500 just is too massive for me.
We were told that it could tow 9700, and 11200 (fifth wheel). So this should work for the Passport, right? 28'long, say 6500 loaded. My DH does not commute with this, it'll be our run to the store vehicle, we do tow about 5,000 miles a year, 3 to 5 trips. We haven't purchased the new RV yet.

Might as well go for the Passport 286RB now! That bathroom is like a locker room.

Is that the one with the bathroom that spans the whole rear of the TT and has it's own outside door? If so that bathroom is RIDICULOUS! So awesome.

What is a corn hole board? I almost hate to ask.

Well, it's a done deal---we have purchased a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 with the heavy duty tow package, crew cab, short bed. Dealer demo, so we got a great deal and turn in amount on our Durango. DH is happy, has a manly black leather interior--I'm happy with the silver color exterior. It's the SLE with power pack and lots of bells and whistles.Tows 9800----we won't be towing more than 6000, present camper weighs 3500. Now on to TT buying!!! Which is harder, IMHO, due to the amount of choices available.

Congrats on the new GMC - very nice rig. Now you have a lot more TT options to go for!

I think you'll be happier with the Sierra if your Durango was a 4x4 it had an awful puny rear end. That's the main reason I didn,t buy one.

I know the Durango uses 8" in front and 8.25" (10 bolt) in rear. Doesn't the Expedition use an 8.8" 10 bolt in rear? I'm not sure of what's up front.
