Does anyone use resistance bands to keep in shape while on the road?

If so, what exercises do you recommend?

We ride our bikes; a couple thousand miles each year. Resistance bands or free weights would be a good idea. Start out with a 2 lb. weight then five then 8 which should be enough.

To start off...I've worked out my entire life and was concerned when we started full-timing. So, I researched and tried to copy basic workout moves.

I bought a set of 3 bands at Target, an exercise ball, Perfect pushup set, and a mat. It works well inside and outside. You can customize your workout as needed. Throw in bicycling, walking, and hiking and you're set. Biggest problem?? Getting off the couch and doing it!

Maybe of these days maybe I'll get energetic and do a workout video for RV'ers....

I keep in pretty good shape with resistance bands and walking. My walks include not just straight, flat roads but hiking hilly or mountainous areas on occasion in order to provide more of a workout. I also eat as healthy as I can...only wholegrain products, plenty of veggies, very little alcohol and of course, NO smoking....

People rarely guess my correct age. They're usually 5 to 10 years off (less, of course )

OOOPS! Didn't notice 2nd part of your question. With the resistance bands I perform arm curls and chest pulls. That's about it...

Try geocaching - gets you out, walking, hiking, climbing, using your brain as well as your brawn, a good activity that will help keep you young.

If you google stretch bands you will find any number of exercises using stretch bands. I especially liked the one from sparkpeople, as they have a 20 minute video and gives you a pretty complete upper and lower body workout.

We walk 3 times a day for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.

Also, we have a Wii console with balance board hooked up to our HD flat screen TV for exercise and "personal training." It's like having your own personal trainer. This works well for us. No bands here - not needed with the Wii.

We are not full timers but follow the above procedure on our trips.
