I get 17 around town, 13 with the 5000lb Lance 981 Max on and 12 if I add the boat. This is PA, NY and Canada driving, so it is hilly. I have a 2006 Dodge dually with a Cummins 5.9 and 410 rear gears, automatic.

I get 17-19 empty, drops to about 14 with the camper.
When I add the pontoon, it drops to 9 to 10. The pontoon is anything but aerodynamic. This is in the South with very few major hills.

MPG depends on many variables.

For our 2008, F-450, the mpg varies from 8.6 to 19.3 mpg depending on load, wind, rpm, level, up, or downhill, etc. The lowest mpg is with our big Okan 117 t/c with two slides and driving uphill in the Rockies at around 55 mph. Our best mpg is on a flat road with no load and the "Tailgate Off" and driving around 55 mpg. This is overall a very comfortable rig and we like it for the ability to get into small campgrounds like BLM and nat'l forest and nat'l parks out west. But, it is a little too big as I would really like to be able to drive to more trailheads at 9,000 to 12,000 ft. and we have found we cannot get there in our big vehicle as we usually have to stop 2-4 miles short. So we park and hike from there, that's all. In hind sight I would get a smaller truck with large single rear wheels and a light wt. pop up t/c. Maybe I can pick up one of those in a few years.

I get ~20 empty and ~12 with the big camper. This keeping it at 2000 rpm on the highway. Adding even a small trailer will knock off a mile or so. Slower it would probably get better but I only have so much time to live.

If I tow a small 16' aluminum Jon boat behind my TC instead of the car hauler w/Jeep, my mileage goes up 1.5 to 2.0 mpg.

On my '04 Toyo Tundra, with an '04 4whl "Hawk" model, I get around 10-12 Mpg. Not good by my own estimation, but the truck does perform well and takes me to some places where the big boys can't go......john

Here is a good scenaril. Left a couple of weeks ago with my 06 CTD, Smarty Jr., 4x4 (Dynatrac free wheeling kit installed, no measurable mileage gains), 3.73 gears, stock tires, short bed with 09' Lance 845 on board and left from Northern CA and drove to Denver avereaged 12.8 MPG at 65 MPH hand calculated (the lie meter is so far off it's not even funny). Left my Lance in Denver and came back with a 08' Hallmark UTE pop up and ran 75 MPH and averaged 12.9 MPG. Empty the truck averages around 20 MPG combined driving...

Dodge 1 Ton diesel (dually) with 992 Lance (2 slide-outs): 1 liter on every 4-5 km.
( Average speed 95-110 km/hour)

Hopefully you Americans can figure this out in miles and gallons.

Greetings from the Great White North. :-)
