I know $$$ can make for strange 'bed fellows' , but the new Droid adv's running on TV, are really going hard core against the iPhone, and doesn't sound much like apple & vzw have resolved any business differences

Last week went to local Verizon store and got on the Droid waiting list(#13).

I have a Verizon dumb-phone with work.
DW has an iPhone, that I have to show her how it works and download apps that interest me

So, looking forward to getting a Droid and compare it to DW iPhone to see if it's really an iPhone killer.

My kids all have iPhones, so in short-order we should be able to review the two phones and run the popular apps side-by-side.

Trop-a-cal heard Apple was looking to drop AT&T and switch to Verizon. Such a move is highly unlikely since Verizon uses CDMA technology and AT&T uses GSM technology. They are completely different and devices cannot be interchanged between networks. There is a rumor that Verizon is seeking an additional license, but the exclusive Apple deal with AT&T extends into next year. AT&T is trying to extend the deal, since the iPhone has been such a success for them. Eventually the lawyers will decide if Apple can do a deal with Verizon.

If you saw the news today, AT&T sued Verizon, claiming Verizon ads showing superior 3G coverage are false and mis-leading. And the beat goes on....

I just read a few articles about the lawsuit. What is most interesting to me is that ATT is NOT claiming the ads misrepresent their 3G coverage or Verizon's 3G coverage. They concede that point completely. They believe the ads are misleading because consumers cannot tell that the ads are ONLY about 3G coverage, and might confuse people about ATT's coverage with their 2G network.

There is a link to an article about the suit in an earlier post on this page. The articale shows the coverage maps used in the commercial. On the previous page of this thread are coverage maps from the two companies' web sites.
