We have 4 cats--2 mostly indoors but they do go out, and 2 always outdoor cats. My question is, what does everyone do with them when they go camping for an extended period. We definitely won't take them with us.

I'm Kidding We have 4 at home also. We leave them out with food and water and have a neighbor keep an eye on them and top off the food and water. So far so good after 4 years. One of the cats will be a no show on occasion when we get back, but always comes home. He is our indoor cat.

We have two right now. If it is just a long weekend, we leave them at home. Have an automatic dry food and water dispenser..
For litter boxes, we have two littermaid automatic boxes.
If it is going to be over 4 days, we will either have someone house site, or at least come in and check every 2-3 days that the food or water needs to be re-filled, and also to see if the bins on the litter boxes need changed..
We have done this for trips up to two weeks or so. Have not had the luxury of taking trips longer than that as of yet.

We usually take our two with us. When we take a trip via air, we have a pet door which works great. We leave food and water for the week. Our neighbor sees them around and keeps us posted. If it were longer, we would have someone come and refresh the water put out more food and so on.
We have been thinking about installing security cameras. If we do, we could see what's going on via internet.
The only downside about the pet door is on two occasions they have brought home a "toy". I found a mole under my nightstand next to the bed and a mouse under the sofa. Not a pretty sight after a week!

We hire a petwatcher. One of our cats eats only canned food due to digestive issues, so the catwatcher comes twice a day when we're away. She does an excellent job, but doesn't come cheap.

We bring yours with use, five or six months at a time, one out door cat, and two dogs. I've tried to find a place of the cat, but every one is afraid of him.
He's close to 20lbs, long white hair with yellow eyes. Last time on the road in Texas he brought home a small coyote. Bill

We travel with out three cats, one dog and a parakeet. I think four in a litter box would be pushing it. Could you take your two indoor cats and have a sitter come feed your outdoor cats a couple of times a day?
DH, DW, 3 chats-Butt, Mocha and Molly, where's the
weight police on these cats?

We used to have a cat door in our old house... A few times we had a neighborhood cat come in, in the middle of the night and fight with our cats...

I have had to do this, too. My old kitty needs med and canned food, so I researched around to find someone.

Teen age neighbor boys, feed two cats, change water, clean litter boxes, fill outside bird feeders, bring in mail and papers, water plants-$10/day.
