Was feeling kinda low about the loss of our hamster, Boris.
Don't know why I did it, but I was looking at the local pet stores like Petco and PetsMart at their hamsters. Nothing.
But one Petco was housing some animals for the animal shelter. I didn't realize it when I walked in. Several cages of small animals in the back of the store from people who had abandoned their animals. Saw this little guy and he stole my heart! 2 months old, abandoned by his owner at 4 weeks old! Poor guy. Adoption fee was a whopping $3.
He's now home safe and sound! Welcome home "Checkers"!

How sweet! It made me think of a hamster my daughter had when she was little--his name was Cecil (pronounced SESel). He was so tame he would sleep with her. Hmmmm, wonder how our little terrier would react to a hamster?
