When I am on level ground, the 5th wheel pin has the front of the trailer about 2 to 3 inches higher than the back of the trailer. Is that correct?
I can adjust to be perfectly level or even a down in front if that is what it should be.
I can't seem to find anything on this topic and this is my first trailer. Just want to be towing as close to perfect as I can.

I like mine level....looks better and keeps the weight evenly distrubted on the tires. JMO

IMO, ANY trailer should be as level as you can get it when hooked up.

Hi Lou,
Depends on what type of structure your 5'er design is. If your top roof design is flat or fairly flat, front too back, then you will save a small amount of fuel with the nose being 3" high. That will not effect your suspension at all on most RV trailers.
The aerodynamics are slightly lower with a tapered roof from the front too the back.
If your roof line has a built in slope, then tow being level.
If your RV bottom is not smooth skinned flat, you will loose approx 15% of aerodynamics or gain 15% fuel mileage with a skinned bottom.

As stated, try for a level as possible maintaining clearance between the truck bed walls and 5th wheel overhang. It does help the 5th wheel tires carry equal weight.
There should be adjustment in both the pinbox and hitch.

Good question-not to hijack but I jsut went from a 03 dodge dually 2wd to a 07 dually 4wd and noticed the bed sits quite a bit higher. Fist trip at Thanksgiving-hope I'm ok. I think I should be ok at bed rail height.

I lowered the front of my fifth wheel in one inch increments and every adjustment improved the ride and tow quality. At dead level, virtually all of the chucking was gone. If you don't know that word, do a search in the fifth wheel forum, there are dozens of references to it. The suspension is optimized for level towing. Eliminated me from having to purchase a fancy pin box.

Thanks for all the replies. I have since went to the Reese (MY HITCH) web site and found an entry there that says to have trailer perfectly level and or up to 3 degrees NOSE DOWN. I will adjust mine to level and see if I can tell the difference. It did fine with the nose up about 3 inches from Indianapolis to Georgia, but if there is better, I want to find it.
