My husband has a pre-existing condition - high blood pressure. The doctor had to change his medication. Can't travel until it is stable for 90 days. Does anyone know of a company that will cover pre-existing conditions with fewer days stable?

Depends how long you will be away, there are some that will cover you for 35 days no medical information required....but you must be careful and read the policy carefully.
You can go to an insurance agency or broker, however they just want to sell usually and won't tell you about the exclusions....but some of them will.
here's one you can look at

Try Sanderson Travel Insurance. I can't find my book, and we're in BC so it might be different, but we used to have a guy traveling with us that had so many pre existing conditions he should have been dead, and he got coverage.

It was an increase which means blood pressure up. Don't want to take a chance on excluding as hubby had heart surgery 27 years ago.

I believe the Canadian Snowbirds insurer may cover some pre-existing conditions that are not stable within the 90 days. It would not be under their regular plans. They have a detailed questionnaire that they run by their medical people and others and may give you a special quote. It takes a bit of time to go through this process I believe (perhaps a couple of weeks at a minimum). I started through this for my wife a year ago but ran out of time and left on our trip anyway since we felt her condition was quite minor and very unlikely to occur again while we were away.

I'd be surprised to find any Insurance Company that doesn't have an escape clause in Their Policies re a preexisting condition.
When You get right down to it Your Provincial Health Care Plan is going to still be the main source of Funds for Your Medical costs . The Insurance Company only pays the difference if there is any between what the Provincial Plan pays and Whatever the Medical Facility Bills for Their Services.
That's not to say that You don't need the extra Coverage, but You don't need to go overboard either, take a higher deductible and be prepared to possibly pay a few Dollars Out of Pocket by Self Insuring a portion of it!
We Use Medipac and always choose to go with a higher than Normal Deductible which pulls the Premium way down!
