Hi all...

My unlucky 3 year old cat is at it again. A couple of weeks ago, he got into my dog's Rimadyl and had to stay at the vet for activated charcoal treatments and iv fluids. Later bloodwork showed that his kidney functions are normal and he was released from treatment.

Now he's getting some bald spots. He has one on the top of his head, one at the base of his tail, and one on the inner part of one of his front legs.

I plan to call the vet tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone knew what might be causing these - is it, perhaps, a side effect of the charcoal treatment? Or could it be from the stress of his ordeal? Or something completely different?

Thanks!
Veronica

Mange, is one posibility. Caused by perisities. Probably not the charcoal treatment.

Give the cat a half teaspoon of Cod Fish Oil morning and night.
You can squirt in mouth with plastic syernge or let cap lap it up.
It was prescribed for my cat and hair grew back thick and shinny.

I also give it to my dog.

Did they check the cat's thyroid, an run a panel on the cat. If I was guessing, I would probably guess stress from the ordeal.

Could be a food allergy, too.

Lots of possibilities. Hope you can get some insights from your vet.

Good luck! The fur will grow back, thank goodness!

Could be so many things, I'm glad you are contacting your vet. I hope the symptoms are easily treated and go away quickly!

Let us know what you find out.
