Here is what I'm looking at.
The price is right too.

My Toshiba Satellite A75 that I boasted about last week gave up the ghost last night. I was just about to back up the system to a external drive when it turned off, never to return.

The power brick is fine. I'll pull the Hard Drive and I can extract what I need to a new PC. And with WINDOWS 7 no less. The excuse I needed. R.I.P Toshiba.

If you are interested in using the Aero features of Win 7 you should be careful regarding that model computer. Aero requires 128M of graphics memory and that only has 64M. Also, the graphics memory is shared with your main memory which means it uses some of your main memory for graphics memory instead of having separate memory for graphics.

Thanks for the heads up. I see the S5200Z with a graphics upgrade is 512Mz. Much improved. And it's only a couple of bucks more. $470

i run aero on a dell d610 which has a x300 which only supports 32mb and 64 models.

aero works fine on it, also with dreamscene, although cpu usage is high over 50% with dream scene running on a 2gh processor

You asked....I'll tell you my experiences.

I have had an HP Slimline for two years and it has been trouble prone.

Two different geeks have told me the Slimlines don't cool well and that has been my experience. Lots of unexplained crashes and "blue" screens.

I have taken to running it with the cover off. No further problems but I feel that I am borrowed time and will probably replace it in the near future....not with another Slimline.

I have been reading similar accounts due to the confined space, everything is crammed inside. I think I will go toward a standard tower which will also allow an additional board or drive.

update:
I decided to go for a full size desktop Like this and I get a $60 Visa card as a rebate.

The Integrated video chip will do for now and later I'll upgrade and install a dedicated board.
if anyone needs one of these the rebate is good till 10/7.

Lowes used the same Visa idea when we got our washer.

Got it today and only took a couple of minutes to set it up and type in the info they always want. First thing I did was to REMOVE Norton. Now I feel better.
