Maybe the car czar will study the success of Ford and implement similar changes over at GM.

Good for Ford. They have seemed to pull themselves out of the morass of a few years ago.

North America needs three strong manufacturers...Ford has been up and down for years...as has GM and Mopar. Let's hope Ford maintains it's position and GM and Mopar follow.

One requested concession was a starting wage freeze. That is hardly asking for the moon. Point being that now is not the time for the Union to decide the health of the company. If they bleed all the money they can over one quarter of profits and allow no further movement towards growth, they are no better than the high paid "run it, ruin it, and pocket the millions" CEO's everyone despises.

Yup, Ford is carrying a big load of debt. Difference between Ford and GM/Chrysler, Ford is carrying it's own debt. We the taxpayers, are now carrying GM and Chryslers debt.

Remember they had no problem swapping debt for equity a few months ago and are predicted to do it again when the time is right.

The article says their first profitable quarter since 2005 in North America. I would say Ford is far from being out of the woods. The scorpion diesel better live up the the hype or it could put them in the same boat as GM and Chysler.
