As Snowbirders headed for AZ we stopped for fuel in Frank. I had the pump started when an attendent showed up to finish the job. They had some 1 gallon (4 liter) window wash fluid on display at the pump and I told the attendent that I needed one and got his permission to put it in the vehicle. Then we went to the wash room and then went to the till to pay up. The gal at the till swipped a card for the washer fluid and told me the total due (fuel and window washer). I paid the bill and continued on the journey. Later that night I fired up my laptop and proceeded to enter the fuel purchased in my fuel spread sheet. That is when I noticed the receipt only showed fuel, 35 liters at 0.98 per liter. At first I thought I had gotten away with a free gallon of winshield washer fluid. BUT then my mileage for that leg was way out of wack. To make a short story long we paid $10.00 for one gallon (4 liters) of window washer fluid.

Frank is a one horse town most notably know for the "Frank Slide" of the early 1900s. It is 1 hour west of Fort McLeod on Highway 3 in the SW corner of Alberta.

OK. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't in AZ. Have a safe trip. We are on our way to Tucson at the moment.

Just as a matter of interest, I live 10 miles east of Edmonton. I stopped at my local gas station and few weeks ago and noticed they wanted $9.99 for a jug of windshield washer anti freeze there. I thought it was mislabeled on their display, guess not.

Ten bucks for a jug of bug juice??? that's really absurd. Whats with those danged Canucks anyways. . . . . . . Oh! Wait, I'm a Canuck Some of us are honest . . . . . OK, most of us are honest.

But seriously though, that's crazy. What does Wally world sell it for? $2.79?

I actually have not paid for bug juice (as I call it) for about 7 years now. I have been dealing with a local GM dealer for all my service needs and every time I bring my truck in for service, they fill up my windshield squirter bottle for FREE!!!!!! Eeeehaaaaa! OK, I know I pay for it in the service price but it has now become a challenge for me. Never pay for the stuff. Make sure I time it right so its almost empty by the time service rolls around.

And NO, I don't stick a straw in there and siphon it off!

Most gas stations charge more for windshield washer fluid than stores. Few are as much more as that in Frank, but still more.

The exception will be the Canadian Tire pump besides a CAnadian Tire Store. For a trip I go visit the handy CT store and get a couple of gallons to fit behind the truck seat.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

I use a small amount of DAWN dish washing soap and water. It's cheap and works great.
