When this optional powertrain in the Raptor arrives in showrooms in early 2010, the 6.2-liter V-8 will produce 411 hp and 434 ft.-lb. of torque, making Raptor the most powerful half-ton pickup available. Customers will now have the choice of two V-8 engines in the Raptor, Ford's proven 5.4-liter Triton V-8 or the new 6.2-liter V-8, which can be ordered beginning Dec. 1, with an MSRP of $41,995 including destination and delivery.

Imagine if the Ford guys do an "Ecoboost" version of the 6.2 with the twin turbos, I could see the engine easily producing 500hp and 500lbs torque, infringing on diesel territory without the emission headaches.
Real nice in a F-350.

Capt - the off-road version already puts out 500 hp.The twin turbo would be insane ,talk on blueoval is over 700 and 700 with a pool table flat torque (non) curve.

Wow. Never woulda thought the 6.2 V8 would put out that kind of torque. Thats more torque than my V10 produces, and obscenely more horsepower! Good for Ford, hope it works out good for them. I'll be very curious to see the torque curve, though, and see just how hard you have to twist that engine to get 434 ft-lbs of torque from it.

Its great to know that Ford will still have a good gasser choice in their superduty pickups after the V10 is gone. That is very good news for those of us that tow large trailers and want NOTHING to do with the new diesels and all the emissions junk they have. I was 'bout to think our V10 Excursion was gonna have to last us the rest of this lifetime, glad to see that may not be the case now.

A brand new F150 SuperCrew with the 6.2L V8 and 6spd tranny is very appealing to me. Not sure if I'm going SuperDuty or not...

We'll see when the time comes. For now, my current truck isn't showing any signs of trouble and feels very solid so it may be a while before I have to fork out some $$$.

"BOSS" sounds so much better than Hurricane-
Look how many extra trucks Dodge sells "cause its a HEMI"

Come on Ford--call it the BOSS

I was just a young-un back in 1968 working at the Ford garage when the mechanical super at the Steep Rock Iron Mine ordered up his BOSS 302. He even left off the power steering to have MORE power for the tires!! Took me for a ride when it came in & I still remember like it was yesterday, was that mustard yellow/orange color and it had the juice!!!

BOSS--BOSS----Boss

400 hp in an F-150 will be hard to beat in the 1/2 ton segment.

I can understand turbocharging in a diesel tow vehicle. I'm scratching my head at turbocharging in a gasoline tow vehicle.

Seems to me that the powerband would be too narrow for towing if you TCd a gasser.

I could see supercharging but I'm unsure about turbocharging.

TC'd gasser would potentially give a better powerband. Small turbo for low rpm and large turbo for upper. Mega-power. The advantage of Ford's Eco-Boost is the run a 10.1 compression ratio and have a turbo. Nice...

Clifford the twin force engines reach max torque at 1500 rpm and maintain a flat 'curve' all the way to 4000+ rpm.
Could be why the small diesel was cancelled or put on hold.
