I will hit 260,000 miles on my V10 this Friday. Only repair have been 1 starter relay and 2 oxygen sensor.

My V10 is not used gently. I gross up to 25,000 sometimes, and over 20,000 pounds most of the time. Mine also has the full Banks Powerpack and I run a Diablo Predator tuner and have raised the shift points to 5200 RPM with a 5800 RPM rev limiter. The west coast is not flat, so when running really heavy, some grades require sustained 2nd gear at 65+ mph for 10-15 minutes at a time. That's just under the 5,000 RPM mark for me due to my 4.56 gears. It also sees extended idling when it it being used for stationary power.

mine has rolled 200000 kms with about 50000km towing, other than a current issue with broken exhaust manifold bolts has not had a single repair required to engine or trans. Has had meticulous maintence done

BUT this says it all

If you like the truck don't be worried about the powertrain

I don't dispute the V-10 being a very durable engine however I would be hesitant to buy your V-10 or the V-10 the OP listed. Used V-10's are still available.
There is no need to purchase a used one with high mileage unless it is at a give away price. I suggest the OP Keep looking there are better V-10 examples available.

Taken from another website/forum, the V10 was engineered as a 450,000 mile engine.

That is $16,000 CAD not USD right? That does make a difference to those saying it is too much $$. My 2004 has 65,000 MILES on it and I thought that was getting up there. I am planning to replace it this summer for an 2008. Nothing wrong with that V-10 they are great engines and pull like a champ.

Yes it is in CAD. It is a crew cab, 6.5 ft box, 4 x 4, XL trim. It looks like it has been well cared for, but I realise just because it looks pretty doesn't mean the maintenance has been kept up. The main reason why I'm interested is because V10 trucks around here are hard to find, it seems like most of the used 250(2500) and 350(3500) trucks are diesel and are usually twice the money with the same milage. The only other two gas powered Fords around here, in the same configuration, are a 2008 f250 with the 5.4, 50000 kilometers, for $25000 cad, and a 2009 f350 V10 Lariat with 6000 kilometers, for $39000 cad. I don't need the truck until March/April, so for now I'm just looking.

I have two V10's one 2002 F250 with 195000 and running super strong towing every other day and one 2002 F350 with 70000 running super strong towing 14000 once in a while. I'm a dealer and had four powerstrokes before hand and don't regret the move to the big gassers.

Average national auction price on the one you are looking at is $10000 USdollars, so retail/out right sale will be a little higher.

hope that helps

I'd really like to know where this comes from. Seems pretty hard to believe.

One thing to check if possible is which oil the prior owner used. Ford requires a synthetic blend at a minimum (5w20 specified, 5w30 ok). Running conventional oil, or a heavier oil (like 10w40) will cause some valve noise in the V10 after while.
