Mike W wrote: Depends what day of the week. The 210 at 8am on a weekday is not very desirable...as suggested, wait until after 9am. If you'd like to avoid LA AND the Grapevine, then head up further on the 15 (you get Tejon but I like that one better)and cut over to Bakersfield. I think you meant Cajon. Tejon is the pass on I-5.

It depends somewhat on what you're driving. I hate the I-210 in a motorhome pulling a trailer because of the nature of the (heavy) traffic -- slowing and speeding up constantly.
I go the I-15 to the 138 (Pearblossom Highway) and get off at Sheepcreek road towards El Mirage. After a series of desert roads with absolutely no traffic, you cross the 14 and get onto 138 again to the I-15 at Gorman. Probably a little slower and longer, but much more peaceful!

It will be almost 9 by the time you get here anyway so the fastest is I-15/I-210/I-5.

Damone,
The traffic between San Diego and Pasadena will make what used to be a two hour drive a three hour drive, so by the time you reach Pasadena using the 15-210-5 route you will be fine. That route takes you around LA for the most part it will have a few slow spots and is probably the fastest route. Watch the four wheelers on the truck bypass at the I5, 14 interchange, they drive like idiots trying to pass abd cutting off big rigs.

I did Hot Rod, I get my cajones mixed up from time to time...That is why I call it the Victorville grade, but its not on maps like that....I should know that, I have been stuck on that grade more than a few times in snow when I lived in Vegas. Hope all is well with you....
