Hi Everyone;

The Shamrock is in storage now and I have removed the battery.
Just took the new tow vehicle over to check the connections. It's a 2010 Ford F 150. The running lights on the trailer work, but no interior lights??? Why? I could have sworn that my Chevy Astro could run everything whether the trailer battery was present or not.

Today when I put the battery back on the lights worked with the F 150, but as soon as I disconnected it the lights inside went out. Do I have a defective trailer connector on the F 150?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks; Lou

Is the truck connected and engine running? Ford's trailer circuits are all isolated by relays and only work with the ignition on.

Did you install the required relay and fuse for "trailer battery charge" on the F150? Should be in the glove compartment or similar. If you have HD tow. Unless the dealer pinched it.

You COULD have a problem if the ignition switch was in the "on" position when you did that. The same relay also protect the truck battery from being run down by the RV if you leave it connected overnight.

The truck needs to be running to supply power. You did snap in the charge relay in the power distribution box under the F150 hood right? I guess I don't know the 2010 but we ford owners have had to add the relay to a new truck for many years now.

Chuck,

On your Exp did you have to put in a fuse for 12 volts on the plug or was it put in with the tow package? Never really thought to check but just assumed the trailer plug had 12 volts since it came with a tow package.

Thanks

Thanks everyone.....it was the two fuses in my glove box! Just put them in. All these years owning vehicles and never had to put the fuses in a new vehicle . The salesperson handed them to me last week as I received the keys and said here's a few extra fuses that come with your new truck.

Thanks for your insights, it saved a call to the Ford Call Centre located in Mongolia. (LOL)

The towing power box in on top of the radiator shroud on the Expedition and may be the same box as the F150.

The pen points to the fuse for the 12v battery charge line and the black relay (midway on the left (actually front) edge of the box is the other part that came in the bag with the brake pigtail.
