My Himmy mix kitty Cassie came through her spay fine but now has a cold plus she chewed 2 of her sutures and is sore as well as having more scarring Vet has her on Cefa drops and of course an hour after her first dose she threw up. She is still eating so I hope she recovers. She has had several colds and URI since being about a week old(an orphan raised in a vet clinic) I`m wondering if there is anything that she could be supplemented with to boost her immune system, I`ll have to discuss that with the vet as I seem to have read that there is something. Anyway if you could send some healing thoughts her way we would appreciate it.

Some kitties do have rough starts, don't they? Mine had a tough start from her week on this earth, but she is now 16.
Hope Cassie gets back on track and feeling better soon.

Surgery is a big stress of course.... Bovine colostrum is a supplement that is often used to improve immunity... I had my foundling on it for a year. I get a brand from New Zealand, very clean, low heat processed, all that. Also probiotics are very good for the immune system and the system in general. There's a supplement called Jungle Kitty that I still give Tabs, made by Animal Naturals (www.an-nat.com I think) that is made for older cats but seems to be helpful for Tabitha, she had a hard time with fluids early on and has herpes. It includes probiotics among other things, so she's always getting those. She also gets half a gram of l-lysine a day specifically for the herpes, but I think that's pretty specific to herpes, not sure if it would help with other issues.
Of course gentle massage and cuddling is good, and pay particular attention to the ears, give them a good rubbing if she'll allow it. Lots of energy meridians end in the ears. I can send her a little reiki if you'd like.
Don't worry about the scarring, in a few weeks it will be covered in hair, never to be seen again.

If she chews the sutures too much, your vet can put an "Elizabethan collar" on her. Maybe a little vitamin e on the sutures?

Thanks everyone, Cassie is feeling a little better today follows me around and got some lap and massage time and she has been leaving her sutures alone (they are almost dissolved now anyway)
Susan, Thank you for the suggestions I`ll talk to Cassie`s vet about that. I`ve heard of Reiki mostly on the horse boards I`m not sure how it works but if you could send it her way maybe it would help. Cassie is an overly sensitive cat, she hates any kind of restraint and totally freaks out that`s why no collar she couldn`t even stand the bitter cream and it wasn`t even on the sutures.
