We are thinking about visiting Oregon for a couple weeks in the Summer of 2010. I guess we will need to make our reservations soon. We have no idea where to stay. So what is the best beach park and the best inland park? Must have spectacular views, be big-rig friendly and have a resort style. Price really doesn't matter that much. Thanks!

I loved Oregon and it's beautiful shore line and State parks, and the majority of them have full hookups, partial and primitive without hookups at least all the ones we visited. we stayed on the coast side because it was cooler and closer to the tourist sites. I think where ever you go and camp you'll be content. good luck on your pick and have fun.

If you plan to visit Crater Lake, consider Collier Memorial State Park. Resort style? No. But this is a great park - full hookups, immaculately clean and library quiet. Best part? $17 a night (summer 2009). Plenty of room for a big rig. Forget the commercial parks - this one is a gem.

If your traveling on I-5, Seven Feathers RV Resort in Canyonville is a great place to stop.

We traveled along the Oregon coast in summer 09 and loved it. We made no reservations, and just drove and saw the sights until we wanted to stop. We always had several campgrounds to choose from that were state parks within 20 minutes of each other. The beautiful part was NOT having to make reservations. We stayed in a lovely area at Port Orford. I don't recall the state parks being all that big rig friendly, but we always got in a spot with our 34' 5th wheel. Best - KRJ

Check out Sea Perch RV near Yachats, OR. Lots to visit up and down the coast from here. Click on PHOTO TOUR for great pictures. They have great WiFi but its a cell dead zone. Need to go about a mi in either direction to get cell signal. They do have a FREE landline (long distance INCLUDED) in the clubhouse.

Absolutely the best State Park on the Oregon coast is Ft Stevens, on the extreme northern point. Second is Honeyman near Florence. Inland - Wallowa Lake, extreme NE corner, near Joseph. Okay, this is just my opinion, but I've traveled the state my entire life and stayed at hundreds of parks. These are my favorites, which includes site beauty AND area attractions.

Sure wish we were in a position that price doesn't matter! :-)
On the Coast I think the best place is Winchester Bay RV Park - outstanding. And, inland we love Diamond Lake RV Park in Diamond Lake - lots to do in that area and short drive to Crater Lake.
Have been to OR three times - at those places and others - and going back in 2010 if we have any money left!

Having worked as a volunteer campground host at several state parks in southern Oregon on the coast, I'm VERY partial to them. It's hard to go wrong at any of them. As far as a resort type state park, forget it. As mentioned earlier, Winchester Bay is excellent and literally right on the water. I prefer Bullard Beach in Bandon, Sunset Bay near Coos Bay, and Honeyman near Florence, but would be happy in any of them.

I'll second Winchester Bay RV Resort. If your looking for fancy, Pacific Shores in Newport. Olde Stone Village in McMinnville is a nice park. There is a very nice air and space museum next door. RV Resort at Cannon Beach is nice, but not necessarily a "resort". Nice area to visit though.
