So, if one is to accept your logic, the manufacturer who builds both gas and diesel, builds high quality diesel units, but low quality gas units. I suggest that the same quality of build exists up and down the line. If the manufacturer produces quality at the top, it generally produces quality at the bottom. The reason is simple, most customers do not start buying at the top, most start at or near the bottom. They move up, and if you have a reputation for building garbage in the entry level, that reputation will follow you and people will go the other way on the luxury level. It would be a tough sell to people that MH X in the entry level is garbage, but in the luxury level, it's the best thing going.

The problem here lies in that you are making it a totally black and white..a yes and no sort of thing....and its not!

Can coach maker "X"..build a "low cost gasser"...a high $$ gasser...a mid level DP? Sure they can ( and some DID at least.) But the level of quality of construction IS NOT and WAS NOT identical in all 3 examples.

Its NOT that every gasser made is junk and every DP made is "Prevost" level of quality ( and Yes..I know a Prevost isnt anything...its the customizer that makes it that CAN turn it into a thing of beauty)

People are confusing "Quality Construction" with "Extravagant Upgrades".I look at coach frame work, cabinet construction, wiring, plumbing, exterior paint finish. In the end, when you sell the unit, how much did it cost you per day of use(days lived in)? The more you spend on buying a new unit, the more you will loose in depreciation. If money is not a problem for YOU,why argue with people who want to be cautious with their spending?

Those are great points made. Also your closing question is a good one.

I have a Winnie gas coach and think the way every inch of room is not wasted is great.I drive around 6,000 miles a year and it is in storage now for 5 months. The poster wanted to know about build quality .I think mine is good it is not like the big rigs but it ok for what we use it for.If I ever go full time then I would like a DP. That said for us part timers or weekend campers a gas MH is the way to go.I think a DP is built to be driven not stored for 5 months a year. Some day I would like a DP but for now I will be happy with my gas coach.IT is like a working man drives a Chev but some day would like to drive a Cadillac .

in terms of build quality to gas or diesel in qualiy within brands
the companys eg. fleetwood ,winny ,tiffin ,newmar etc. puts same
workmanship into gas or diesel. this is called pride or company policy.
though as higher price units gas or diesel the amenities are higher grade.
workmanships remains constant.

Well after reading 8 pages of posts that were supposed to be about gas motorhomes I've done a count and it seems that somehow the diesel made it's way into the discussion on more pages than the gas coach. Either most of you can't read or you think your diesel's are so much better then our gas coaches. I'm happy for all of you that can afford your DP's but we still love our gas engines and I just love my Allegro !!!!

This has been very interesting reading. I was the OP on this thread. I had noticed an earlier post asking for rankings of Diesel coaches. I was curious about the relative quality of various brands of gas coaches, and where our gas Dutch Star might rank against the other brands. I didn't want to be discourteous and hijack the diesel thread with a discussion about gas units, so I started this thread to see what more I could learn about gas coaches.

I assume that there are gas units with a reputation for good build quality combined with pride of workmanship, irrespective of what features and/or amenities they may have.

This has absolutely nothing to do with diesels.

Wow what happened to my posts? Did someones feeling get hurt? I would appreciate it if the Mod who chose to remove my post and a few others would PM me to explain what I might have done wrong. If it was a word couldn't it have been edited like I have seen done before?

Thanks!
