I enjoyed reading the comments in another thread regarding the realtive quality of Class A diesel coaches. Now I wonder if anyone would care to comment on the rankings of Class A gas units, for those of us who can't afford diesels.

This is the thread topic... I have gone through the thread and removed posts that have nothing to do with the thread topic...

The Fleetwood Southwind and Pace Arrow, the Tiffin Allegro, and the Newmar Mountain Aire are ones that I am familar with... I think the Southwind offered the best value, the Pace Arrow offered additional amenities. The Allegro is also a good value and offers the best after sales support. The Newmar Mountain Aire would be the high end in terms of build quality and amenities.

I think Rexhall is a well built unit but their dealer support in almost non existent but I like their motorhomes.

Coachman has many loyal followers including a friend of mine.

Frankly I have not seen a significant difference in the build quality at each price segment. What seems to be different is after sales support, available floor plans and amenities.

Yes, this is thread topic. A point I was trying to make most of the time, of course as usual things got carried away. But you also removed my original post to the thread which did not have any nasty 'd' words in it. Anyway, we must not forget the Bounder, in some places they are as thick as flys.

Your addition of Rexhall is a good one, especially when the American Clippers were being built. Dealer support has always been their downfall.

You all have a good day.

Thanks JohnnyT,

I have a 2003 32' Southwind which is really 33 feet. I dont know why they just dont call them 33 feet? We love it and so far have no issues or complaints, especially for the price we paid. The only thing I wish was it had a bigger bathroom. And I only mean by 1 foot. 1 foot would make a huge difference.

My wife and I both really like the Bunkhouse floor plans. Those are the floor plans with the queen bed and then has double bunks that are in a slide. If we were to ever think about getting another MH, we would probably be looking at getting on of those models.

Oh yes I used a product called B-Quite to insulate and help with heat in the engine compartment. I spent $130 for a 1 foot by 50 foot roll of B-Quite and it was one of the best investments I could have made. It probably reduced the engine temp on the floor of the coach by 25%. Where the big improvement was is in the engine noise. We all know what those fan clutch fans sound like when they kick in! Ours sounds like a jet engine taking off. Once I covered the whole engine compartment and the fiberglass dash that is exposed from under the front engine hood. You can still hear the fan kick in, but it is less then half the noise it used to be. Also for kicks since I had some B-Quite left over I took a piece and put it on the panel that my water pump is mounted to. It also helped quite down the sound of the pump inside the MH.
